GODS RESTORATION BUSINESS
TEXT: For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after. Jeremiah 30:17 KJV
Hosea 6:2-3
After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. (Hosea 6:2-3 KJV)
IN CONTEXT
Verse 11
Though I make a full end of all nations - Though the Persians destroy the nations whom they vanquish, yet they shall not destroy thee.
Verse 12
Thy bruise is incurable - אנוש anush, desperate, not incurable; for the cure is promised in Jeremiah 30:17, I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds.
Verse 13
There is none to plead thy cause - All thy friends and allies have forsaken thee.
Verse 15
Thy sorrow is incurable - אנוש anush, desperate. See Jeremiah 30:12.
Verse 16
They that devour thee - The Chaldeans.
Shall be devoured - By the Medes and Persians.
All that prey upon thee will I give for a prey - The Assyrians were destroyed by the Babylonians; the Babylonians, by the Medes and Persians; the Egyptians and Persians were destroyed by the Greeks, under Alexander. All these nations are now extinct, but the Jews, as a distinct people, still exist.
Verse 18
The city shall be builded upon her own heap - Be re-edified from its own ruins. See the book of Nehemiah, passim.
And the palace shall remain - Meaning, the king's house shall be restored; or, more probably, the temple shall be rebuilt; which was true, for after the Babylonish captivity it was rebuilt by Nehemiah, etc. By the tents, distinguished from the dwelling-places of Jacob, we may understand all the minor dispersions of the Jews, as well as those numerous synagogues found in large cities.
Verse 19
I will multiply them - They shall be very numerous; even where at present they have but tents.
I will also glorify them - I will put honor upon them every where, so that they shall be no longer contemptible. This will be a very great change, for they are now despised all over the earth.
Verse 20
Their children also - They shall have the education of their own children as formerly.
And their congregation - Their religious assemblies.
Shall be established - Being, in the latter days, incorporated with those "who serve the Lord their God, and worship the Messiah, the son of David."
Verse 21
Their nobles shall be of themselves - Strangers shall not rule over them; and -
Their governor shall proceed from the midst of them - Both Nehemiah and Zerubbabel, their nobles and governors after the return from Babylon, were Jews.
Verse 22
Ye shall be my people - The old covenant shall be renewed.
• INTRO: I want to focus on the phrase For I will restore, For God will restore! God is looking to restore His people today He is still on the throne He is still the same God He hasn't changed WE HAVE! We need Him to restore something's in our own personal lives if we are gonna see souls saved and if you are not saved hopefully you will examine your own life today and be Restored.
1. RESTORER OF WEAKENED HEALTH -Jeremiah 30:17
Over in Mark chapter 5 the women with the issue of blood, knew if she could just get to Jesus and touch His garment she would be restored.
A. She was diseased- hemorrhaging with blood
B. She was discouraged- doctors said no hope
C. She was depressed- 12 long years
D. She was discharged- from the sickness
2. RESTORER OF WANDERING HOPE-Romans 5:1-2
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2 KJV)
A. We have hope that is lost without Jesus
B. We have hope that is lustful without Jesus
C. We have hope that is longing for Jesus
3. RESTORER OF WRECKED HOMES- Luke 15:20-24
In Luke 15 we see a son who left because of the fundamentals he left because of farm he left because of a sinful fascination but here in this parable we see again God's restoration
A. He can Restore broken fellowship
With the Father
B. He can Restore broken friendship
With the brethren
C. He can Restore broken families
Son once was lost but now he's found
D. He can Restore broken finances
Son being blessed with the Fathers riches
4. RESTORER OF WITHDRAWN HEART -PSALM 51:10
David is beside himself, he is sick about his wickedness sick about his wrong doing and about his way of life he knows God can Restore all he had lost snow now he prays because he has lost something's look at David's prayer
A. He has lost his desire for God in his life
B. He has lost his direction to follow God
C. He has lost his delight - joy the salvation of God
D. He lost his dexterity ability to do Gods will
E. He lost his discipline to serve God
5. RESTORER OF WORTHLESS HUNGER -JOHN 6:32-35
Jesus explains that only God can provide food for our soul all of us are or have been searching for something to fill a void in our life and most of us bounce from one thing to the next when if we would just come to Jesus and ask Him to fill our hunger and thirst and to fill the void in our hearts we would hunger no more.
We put our hope in worldly things and Where you invest your love you invest your life. Luke 12:34 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also! Most of us today have
A. Hope in worldly heros
no ball player ever done anything for you we pay millions of dollars for nothing
B. Hope in hollywood if ever there has been a more idolatrous place it's Hollywood our kids put hope in people that care nothing about them
C. Hope in human beings we put our faith in man and man will let us down
D. We are starving for acceptance
E. We are starving for attention
F. We are starving for approval
Put you trust in God He is the only one who can feed a starving soul
Conclusion:
Are you here today and what has been preached got you thinking about your life do you need healing, or have you lost hope is your home a mess are you hungry
My answer is the same as it's always been JESUS ,COME TO HIM FRIEND I WAS JUST LIKE YOU I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE I BELONGED UNTIL JESUS CAME INTO MY HEART AND FILLED A VOID THAT I COULD NOT FILL
