Message Point: In times of discouragement, it is easy to doubt, but we must remember what God has done.

Focus Passage: Matthew 11:2-6

Supplemental Passage: "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5b ESV)

Introduction: Describe a time of doubt that came from personal discouragement.

I. Situation caused doubts

a. John was imprisoned

b. He took his eyes off Jesus and on to his situation

c. He began to doubt because of discouragement

II. Jesus sent others with His answer

a. He didn’t go Himself

b. He didn’t directly answer the question

c. He reminded John of pertinent Scripture

d. He reminded John of the very messages he had preached

III. Jesus reminded John of experience

a. The Scripture reminded John of what has happened

b. He let John draw his own conclusion

c. Jesus went on in the next verses to explain to His disciples about John

d. (read verses 7-15)

Application/Invitation: Remember what God has done for you and write it down so that you will always be able to remember!
