MANAGING TIME MATTERS
MAIN TEXT: ECCLESIASTES 3:1-2
To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted.
PROVERBS 20:13
Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes and you will be satisfied with bread.
As pilgrims, we are on earth just for a while. God has allotted to each of us the same number of hours per day but different number of years to spend on earth after which we will each give account to Him what we did with the time He gave us. Bearing this in mind, it is important that we should manage our time wisely. Managing time wisely means knowing that there is only 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week and that there can never be more or less than that and no hour of the day should be wasted doing irrelevant things.
How you manage your time to a large extent determines how fruitful or fruitless you will be in life and after death. Eccl. 3:1-2 (our main text) tells us that there is time for everything in life. This means you must do the right thing at the right time. Luke warmness to the things of God, procrastination, unnecessary sleep, rest or tiredness is weapons the devil uses to keep unwise persons away from success. Our second text advises us not to sleep but be awake so as to have bread to eat. When you are not doing the will of God and not doing the right things at the right time, then you are sleeping.
For you to succeed in life, you must plan and command your day. You must give God His rightful place in your life because it is He who gives the increase. Have quality time with Him daily so that you can abide in Him and He in you to give you increase. Engage your hands on legitimate activities; it could be academics, job, business etc for God to prosper you. Do not idle away any minute of the day on unprofitable thing or activities but manage it wisely. Be diligent and consistent in whatever you do and God will cause increases in your life and after death to His own glory.
MANAGE YOUR TIME WISELY FOR ANY TIME WASTED CAN NEVER BE REPLACED.
