Eat not the bread of him who has a hard, grudging, and envious eye, neither desire his dainty foods;

Proverbs 23:6 (New King James Version)

Do not eat the bread of a miser, Nor desire his delicacies;

A. Do not eat the bread of the one with an evil eye.

"Eat not the bread of him who has a hard, grudging, and envious eye,"

We saw the source of evil and it's beginning was in the verse Genesis 2:9 as man and woman desired to be like GOD, they wanted something that GOD withold from them so that it will not harm them. What GOD forbid, they took and ate (consumed). So that was the beginning of good and evil in mankind, the knowledge of it, but how to discern and choose the good, was missing. It was only head knowledge not experiential knowledge.

Genesis 2:9 (Amplified Bible)

And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight or to be desired—good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life also in the center of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of [the difference between] good and evil and blessing and calamity.

A different bountiful eye we can see are people who blessed another.

Proverbs 22:9 (Amplified Bible)

He who has a bountiful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor.

Deuteronomy 15:9 (Amplified Bible)

Beware lest there be a base thought in your [minds and] hearts, and you say, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand, and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and it be sin in you.

Deuteronomy 28:56 (Amplified Bible)

The most tender and daintily bred woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground because she is so dainty and kind, will grudge to the husband of her bosom, to her son and to her daughter

Matthew 20:15 (Amplified Bible)

Am I not permitted to do what I choose with what is mine? [Or do you begrudge my being generous?] Is your eye evil because I am good?

Mark 7:22 (Amplified Bible)

Coveting (a greedy desire to have more wealth), dangerous and destructive wickedness, deceit; unrestrained (indecent) conduct; an evil eye (envy), slander (evil speaking, malicious misrepresentation, abusiveness), pride (the sin of an uplifted heart against God and man), foolishness (folly, lack of sense, recklessness, thoughtlessness).

Remember the saying the beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Here it became true, we behold evil through the eye. We see people as different from us that's why we behold things from them. That's why if you are stingy, or greedy for things, you have isolated yourself from others, and withold your things from others.

Evileyed - Looking with an evil eye, or with envy, jealousy or bad design. [Source: Webster's dictionary]

These are the type of person who always see the evil in somebody else's and not on themselves. They see the evil in the way people walk, talk, smile, wear clothes, even in the way they comb their hair. I will admit that I was once like this but GOD changed me from glory to glory.

Remember the LORD JESUS saying,

Matthew 7:3-5 (Amplified Bible)

Why do you stare from without at the very small particle that is in your brother’s eye but do not become aware of and consider the beam of timber that is in your own eye?

Or how can you say to your brother, Let me get the tiny particle out of your eye, when there is the beam of timber in your own eye?

You hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the tiny particle out of your brother’s eye.

Referring to the eye again of the person. It all starts on how we perceive things. That's why our mind was placed in us for a reason for it to be renewed everyday in the Presence of GOD and we "see" things differently, that they are perfect because they are GOD'S creation.

Romans 12:2 (Amplified Bible)

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

If our mind is renewed then our eyes are renewed as well, and we see people's goodness rather than the evil. "See no evil, hear no evil."

B. Do not desire his delicacies.

"neither desire his dainty foods;"

Proverbs 23:3 (Amplified Bible)

Be not desirous of his dainties, for it is deceitful food [offered with questionable motives].

Psalms 141:4 (Amplified Bible)

Incline my heart not to submit or consent to any evil thing or to be occupied in deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties.

Daniel 1:8-10 (Amplified Bible)

But Daniel determined in his heart that he would not defile himself by [eating his portion of] the king’s rich and dainty food or by [drinking] the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might [be allowed] not to defile himself.

Now God made Daniel to find favor, compassion, and loving-kindness with the chief of the eunuchs.

And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear, lest my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink, should see your faces worse looking or more sad than the other youths of your age. Then you would endanger my head with the king.

Proverbs 4:16-17 (Amplified Bible)

For they cannot sleep unless they have caused trouble or vexation; their sleep is taken away unless they have caused someone to fall.

For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

An evileyed person's food and drink have catches, have strings attached to them, finally you have to vomit them because they are done with wrong motives, that is for you to do something in return for him, favor for favor. Anyways, don't desire his food and drink because his heart is not with you anyways, and someday you're going to vomit what you've eaten given by him and all complimentary words are all wasted.

Proverbs 23:7-8 (Amplified Bible)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost].

The morsel which you have eaten you will vomit up, and your complimentary words will be wasted.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You have rebuke and corrected me showing me that You love me so much to change my attitudes toward people that I will always see that You died for them, and that You love them so much.
