SPIRITUAL NECESSITIES EMPHASIZED BY CHRIST
(1) Inward Righteousness.
Matthew 5: 20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(2) A childlike Spirit.
Matthew 18: 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(3) Repentance
Luke 13: 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
Luke 13: 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
(4) The new birth.
John 3: 5 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(5) Spiritual worship
John 4: 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
(6) Spiritual Food.
John 6: 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
(7) Personal Faith.
John 8: 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Hebrews 9: 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Hebrews 11: 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 12: 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Acts 4: 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
