" Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies."
As I began to read information concerning today's message it would be safe to say that man hasn't changed his way of thinking. There are many today who think like the titanic they are indestructible. But as the titanic they are headed for a disastrous voyage. Going through life as if death will never happen. Today with the help of God we would like to expound upon some of the events that happened that will hopefully stir us to a place of repentance.
1. LIKE MANY TODAY THEY WERE CRYING "WE DON'T NEED GOD AT ALL ANYMORE.
a.) The fool hath said in his heart there is no God. To say you don't need God is to say there is no God to need.
b.) Like those of that day many will turn to God when things get tough.
c.) Like many today the cry was we have built an indestructible ship.
d.) I will truthfully say you can probably make it without God in this life but you know God said, "Prepare to meet thy God", in this life time you can but in eternity you can't and won't. Get right today, and save the torment later.
2. REMOVED THE LIFEBOATS THAT WERE TO RESCUE THEM.
a.) It was said that in the beginning that there were enough life boats to safely rescue everyone on board. (See fact 3)
b.) Today many lifeboats have been removed from society today
1) Blood Atonement- (Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14)
2) Bible- (Ps. 119:9;11;89;105)
3) Old fashioned preaching and praying
4) Old fashioned praise
5) Doctrinal issues
6) Salvation by Grace
7) Repentance which is essential for salvation
8) Church
9) Preachers who proclaim the truth
10) Many refused the lifeboats and life jackets.
c.) There were lifeboats that were not even full- 705 of 1100 souls
3. DISREGARDED THE WARNINGS (Ez. 33:4)
a.) There were three warnings from the crow's nest, the first two were unheeded, and the third was too late.
b.) There were six other warnings from different ships.
c.) But the crew was too prideful to slow down and proceeded full speed ahead to reach New York by scheduled time.
d.) Many laughed when they heard the warnings, many continued to gamble, dance, and drink.
e.) Even after they had been warned they went off to bed.
4. FAMILIES WERE SEPERATED
a.) One eyewitness saw a man holding onto his 12 yr. Old son, the son wouldn't let go of his leg. Many might see this as love for them to go down together, but love would have been for the father to literally cast the son into the lifeboat, many parents are concerned and seemingly love their kids, but true love would be for them to make them do right, mind, respect, honor, fear of God, and not popularity, prestige, and giving them everything they want.
b.) Husbands and wives separated, families torn apart, because they refused the lifeboat.
c.) Many families will perish and be separated when Christ returns.
5. HELP WAS ONLY MINUTES AWAY, BUT THEY WERE ASLEEP
a.) The California was only minutes away, but they turned off their equipment and didn't hear the distress calls of the titanic.
b.) Many are dying with a Christian only a few feet away. (Eph. 5:14-16)
c.) Wake up Church! People all around us are dying and going to hell, Wake Up!
d.) Unless we come to their rescue they will die without Christ
6. HELP WAS ON IT'S WAY
a.) The vessel was on it's way
b.) Rescue was imminent.
c.) There is a Savior you can depend on, Jesus is His name.
d.) Come today before your ship sinks, if it sinks you too will be like those who failed to heed the warnings and get in the lifeboats.
e.) One survivor said this, "the sound of people drowning is something I cannot describe to you, and neither can anyone else. It is the most dreadful sound and then there is dreadful silence that follows it.
