I. EXORDIUM:
What is that one thing that people must do?
Accept the LORD JESUS as LORD and SAVIOR.

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

To show that GOD wanted to save all people giving them the chance and opportunity to know the LORD JESUS by hearing the gospel and accepting the LORD JESUS into their hearts as LORD and SAVIOR.

Joshua 9:24 (Amplified Bible)
They answered Joshua, Because it was surely told your servants that the Lord your God commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land and to destroy all the land’s inhabitants from before you. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You gave me wisdom and understanding to win the souls of these people, not only that but You taught me how to disciple them.

8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
C. Leading Topic: Conquest and Division of the land of Canaan
VIII. MAIN BODY:
Joshua 9:24 (Amplified Bible)
They answered Joshua, Because it was surely told your servants that the Lord your God commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land and to destroy all the land’s inhabitants from before you. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

There are so many places here on this verse that ALEPH-TAV, the BEGINNING and the END, the FIRST and the LAST, the ALPHA and OMEGA, placed His Diving Signature and let us mention these words that have been given importance and emphasis as the key to interpret and meditate this verse:
a. Answered (placed after this word) - [Hebrew word: anah] - to pay attention, to respond, to sing, shout, testify, announce, to bear witness. All the answers came from the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST, not to us, we can't answer, only Him, answers on our behalf. Take note that to sing, shout, testify, announce and to bear witness are the things, the spiritual activities that we do on church. Is that right? AMEN. All our activities came from the LORD JESUS, all our answers came from the LORD GOD. Actually we're discouraged by GOD to answer for ourself. If we answer for ourself, here's where anxiety starts and we are laid open to the enemy, so never start to answer, but start to meditate in GOD's WORDS, and pray to the HOLY SPIRIT with prayer of tongues so GOD will help us in our weaknesses in praying. That's why when I answer I sought GOD's WORDS first what to answer to unbelievers and believers alike, if I can't remember a verse, I start praying in tongues. Therefore I am a sign to this dying world, these dying world will remember what JESUS CHRIST did through and in me, and they will have remorse in hell but no salvation.
Luke 12:11-12 (Amplified Bible)
And when they bring you before the synagogues and the magistrates and the authorities, do not be anxious [beforehand] how you shall reply in defense or what you are to say.
For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour and moment what [you] ought to say.

b. Servants (placed after this word) - [Hebrew word: ebed] - bondage, bondman, slave. I am a slave of GOD, I'm like a dog licking my MASTER'S HANDS. (John 4:24, worship is proskuneo - like (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand)) The real Servant within us and through us is the LORD GOD who does slave's thing for the LORD GOD, not us, He enables us to serve the LORD GOD in ways that it will be accepted. Alsop placed after the singular word "servant" So both as a team of servants and one servant is Both the LORD that enables us to offer sacrifices and services to the LORD, MASTER and SAVIOR our GOD and KING - the LORD JESUS CHRIST, a sacrifice of service that is made acceptable in the Beloved. We are now faithful as a son unlike Moses, because the Real Servants/Servant lives within us.
Hebrews 3:5-6 (Amplified Bible)
And Moses certainly was faithful in the administration of all God’s house [but it was only] as a ministering servant. [In his entire ministry he was but] a testimony to the things which were to be spoken [the revelations to be given afterward in Christ].
But Christ (the Messiah) was faithful over His [own Father’s] house as a Son [and Master of it]. And it is we who are [now members] of this house, if we hold fast and firm to the end our joyful and exultant confidence and sense of triumph in our hope [in Christ].
Whenever we have fellowship, it's not our own fellowship, it's a fellowship of the SON.
1 Corinthians 1:9 (New King James Version)
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
c. Destroy (placed after this word) - [Hebrew word: shamad] - desolate, bring to nought, overthrow, perish, pluck down, utterly. GOD through the LORD JESUS CHRIST will destroy finally all the wicked of this world after they have heard the gospel that is being preached on them giving justice to GOD, and as they have rejected it, they will be destroyed.
Leviticus 26:30 (Amplified Bible)
And I will destroy your high places [devoted to idolatrous worship], and cut down your sun-images, and throw your dead bodies upon the [wrecked] bodies of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you [with deep and unutterable loathing].
Destruction will be done on the high places of the wicked, their idols and finally their own selves. The high places are their places of refuge that they worship, for example: nowadays people worship themselves, their money, their properties, their car, their career, their friends, their work, their business, etc. All these are their high places that will be destroyed by GOD to remove their so-called "fake" protection.
Psalms 37:38 (Amplified Bible)
As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together; in the end the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalms 92:7 (Amplified Bible)
That though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to be destroyed forever.
Psalms 145:20 (Amplified Bible)
The Lord preserves all those who love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy.
Proverbs 14:11 (Amplified Bible)
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown, but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
Jeremiah 48:42 (Amplified Bible)
And Moab shall be destroyed from being a nation, because he has magnified himself against the Lord.
I always see wicked people proud of their lifestyle, they say it's the real in, the trending fashion that a man has a boyfriend, and a woman has a girlfriend, they are happy, looks like it, but in fact they will be destroyed forever, together and their end shall be cut off.
d. Done (placed after this word) - [Hebrew word:asah] - to do or make, accomplish, advance, appoint, become, bestow, commit, displease, furnish, gather, govern, grant, maintain, observe, be occupied.
JESUS CHRIST is always in the doing, always working, always bringing us wealth and riches for us to enjoy.
2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible)
And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].
People of this world, the unbelieving inhabitants of this world thought that all their riches and wealth, their properties and their cars became theirs because of their own effort, their own doings, they forgot about GOD.
Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (Amplified Bible)
And beware lest you say in your [mind and] heart, My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.
But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be proud and arrogant and contemptuous of others, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches, but on God, Who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for [our] enjoyment.

One conversation I have with an unbeliever, is I told him that I'm not the one working, accomplishing things in my life, but the LORD JESUS CHRIST, and he said, that GOD owns the mercy, and men works. I told him it's not the case in me, but GOD owns the Grace and Mercy, and man only has to receive. Though he is bright and intelligent person, to my amazement, is that I can't get through him, he can't understand it. there's a wall of pretension and rejection between the two of us. I'm amazed and all I can offer him is mercy and pity but no salvation to his soul. So sad. so sad..They can never know GOD in their worldly wisdom but they won't let the HOLY SPIRIT in their lives to teach them, pity them. I move on to the next soul.
1 Corinthians 3:19-20 (Amplified Bible)
For this world’s wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their [own] craftiness;
And again, The Lord knows the thoughts and reasonings of the [humanly] wise and recognizes how futile they are.
A. The LORD GOD wanted all the land for His Servants to rule and reign

We "destroy" their ungodly thought, and put it into submission to the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (Amplified Bible)
[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
until they return to GOD for the salvation of their souls.
Take for example, Apostle Paul, before he became Paul he was Saul, the enemy of the believers, killing all men and women who have believed in the LORD now he became one of us.
1 Timothy 1:14-16 (Amplified Bible)
And the grace (unmerited favor and blessing) of our Lord [actually] flowed out superabundantly and beyond measure for me, accompanied by faith and love that are [to be realized] in Christ Jesus.
The saying is sure and true and worthy of full and universal acceptance, that Christ Jesus (the Messiah) came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.
But I obtained mercy for the reason that in me, as the foremost [of sinners], Jesus Christ might show forth and display all His perfect long-suffering and patience for an example to [encourage] those who would thereafter believe on Him for [the gaining of] eternal life.
Now GOD's plan is not murder and destruction but GOD planned that they too will be saved by the hearing of the gospel.
Luke 19:10 (Amplified Bible)
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.
B. One thing: Return to the LORD GOD and become sons
"So we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and have done this thing."

Make the heart of this people fat; and make their ears heavy and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn again and be healed.
Return and be healed. This is our mission here on earth. Preach the gospel to everyone and let them come and return to the LORD.

And this good news of the kingdom (the Gospel) will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then will come the end.
The basis is not for them to accept or reject but the basis of the return of the LORD is that all people will hear the gospel that saves, giving them opportunity to be saved. This "one thing" the LORD JESUS has freely pointed out that Mary, the sister of Martha was able to get. I got it too. To return to the LORD, to be healed of spiritual blindness and spiritual deafness.
