A NEW LIFE II Corinthians 5:17
Let’s look at about seven “new things” that relate to or describe the new life. These are the things that happen to the one who is born anew.
I. WE ARE NEW CREATURES IN CHRIST
A. Note reforming or making over
1. He created us, then he creates us anew! Doesn’t re-create us!
B. The old life has passed away
C. A new life comes into existence
II. A NEW WALK TAKES PLACE
(vs. 7) “For we walk by faith, not by sight”
A. By faith we gain confidence
B. We walk circumspectly in this world
C. We walk in a heavenly direction
III. WE HAVE A NEW MOTIVE
(vs. 11) “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.”
A. Our desire is that others might come to Christ and be saved from their lost condition.
IV. WE NOW HAVE A NEW CENTER OF GRAVITY – New Focus
(vs. 15) “He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
A. Christ lifts us up!
B. We are now living for others!
V. A NEW CALLING
(vs. 18-20)
A. He has “given to us the ministry of reconciliation."
B. He “hath committed unto us the world of reconciliation.”
C. We are “ambassadors for Christ."
VI. A NEW HOME
“In my Father’s house are many mansions. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us that where He is, we may be also. Think of it!
A. To live in Heaven someday!
VII. A NEW BODY
II Corinthians 1-4
“If our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands.” God made it!
A. We will put on immortality. (vs. 4)
B. We have already received immortality in part. (vs.5) "God hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.”
CONCLUSION: Oh, how blessed it is to be a Christian! Are you one? Won't you become a Christian today, if not, and experience these “new things.”
