Summary: There is freedom in the blood of Jesus

Title: The Bloodline of a Champion – 12

“The Blood Makes You Free”

Text: John 8:32, 36

A quote from the first President of the United States (George Washington). “Let the world, O Lord be filled with the knowledge of Thee and Thy Son, Jesus Christ. Wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the Lamb and purge my heart by the Holy Spirit. Daily frame me more and more in the likeness of thy Son.”

George Washington, the first President of the United States and the father of that country, understood the immense impact of the blood of Jesus. Without it, man’s redemption could not have taken place. Only the blood holds the power to wash away every guilty stain of sin and to make us pure and holy.

Andrew Murray said, “It will become clear that there is no single scriptural idea, from Genesis to Revelation, more constantly and more prominently kept in view than that expressed by the words, “The Blood.”

It is awesome to think of the power of the blood of Jesus. Not only does it have the power to wash away every guilty stain of sin and make us pure and holy, it also has the power to make us free and keep us free.

I read a story the other day about a man that was transporting chickens. To transport chickens, they placed them in cages and tied their feet together with strings. When they reached their destination after miles and miles of travel, they would then open the cages and cut the strings in order to let the chickens out. But even after they were set free, the chickens would just lay there. They thought they were still bound and refused to get up. This man had to slap the chickens around a little to get them up and moving. Once they realized they were free, the chickens really enjoyed their freedom. You can just imagine the sight of happy chickens running around everywhere!

I enjoyed reading this illustration so much because there are times as Pastor that I really want to go down in the congregation and slap some people and tell them, “Jesus has already made you free.” When they are all defeated and discouraged, I really want to slap them and tell them, “The price has already been paid.” People all over North America are lying there, waiting for something to happen in their life so that they can finally get free. The truth is, you are already free! Jesus has already purchased your freedom! Through faith in His blood right now, shake yourself, get up, get moving, and go forward in the victory that God has already given you. The blood has made you free!

I. THE GOOD NEWS

Romans 1:16-17, ¶ “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

What is the good news? The Good News is the gospel! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The central theme of the book of the Acts and every sermon preached in that book is the Gospel. Paul’s epistles also record what happened in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, not only in what was seen, but in what was unseen. Paul not only records what man saw, but he also records what God saw. Everything Jesus did, He did it for us. It is set to the credit of our account as though we did it. In the mind of God and in the economy of God, everything Jesus did, He did it for us.

The Gospel is good news! It is a message that makes you glad. It is a celebration of the triumph of Christ.

I John 3:8, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Jesus came to destroy! What does that mean? According to Strong’s Greek Dictionary the word destroy comes from the Greek word, “Luo.” And it literally means, “To loosen, undo, dissolve, or unravel – every strategy and scheme of the devil!” So, what did Jesus come to do? He came to undo everything that the devil did through Adam. Through the blood everything that the devil set up, everything that the devil did through Adam, Jesus came and undid! He dissolved it, He unraveled it! That includes every scheme that the devil is scheming up now, Jesus took care of it! Every strategy that the devil comes up with against your life or your family, Jesus has already taken care of it through the blood. I John 3:8 says, this was the purpose of the Son of God being made flesh. The purpose was to destroy everything that the devil comes up with and to set you free from the works and schemes of the devil.

When you understand what Jesus did for you, it will make you glad! The good news is not that God can help you, wants to help you, or is someday going to help you, but that He has already helped you! That is the good news!

II. RESURRECTION REALITIES

Revelation 1:18, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Jesus is alive! When Jesus raised from the dead, he took His blood into the heaveny Holy of Holies and obtained eternal redemption for us. Through faith in the blood of Jesus you and I can meet with God. When you meet with God, He WILL bring radical change to your life. Who is redemption available to?

Romans 3:22-23, “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

It is available to everyone who believes and exercises faith in the blood.

Romans 3:24-25, “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”

Notice a few key phrases used in these Scriptures: “Redemption, In Christ Jesus, and through faith in His blood.” Redemption simply means, “The purchase of freedom.” Jesus purchased our freedom with His own blood. We have faith in His blood because we understand the value and the power in it.

Hebrews 9:12, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

The freedom and redemption that is ours through the blood of Christ is not temporary. The Goodspeed Translation of Hebrews 9:12 says that His blood “secured our permanent deliverance.” You are free! It is permanent! It is eternal! Christ has redeemed us! Hallelujah!

Andrew Murray says, “For the enjoyment of this blessedness, nothing is necessary except faith in the blood. The blood alone has done everything.”

Galatians 3:13, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:” Our freedom has already been purchased.

Colossians 1:9-14, ¶ “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; Paul desired above everything that the people would know the will of God and increase in knowledge and understanding. 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; There it is again. He wanted the Church of Colosse to have a knowledge concerning the things of God. He knew it wasn’t healthy just to attend church and expect the Pastor to feed you for the week. He wanted them to know things concerning the will and character of God. 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 ¶ Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Hallelujah! We are free. We have been delivered from the hold of the devil. How have we been delivered? 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”

We are free! Stop acting like a bunch of chickens and slap yourself and tell yourself to stop sitting there acting like you are all bound up. Christ has made you free! He has delivered you from the snare and the scheme of the enemy. The price has already been paid. Freedom has already been purchased! We are free from the power of sin, we are free from the snare of the devil, we are free from fear, sickness, poverty, depression, lack!

III. WE ARE FREE!

Jesus paid a very high price for your freedom. Do you think that when you go to God with a problem He says, “Oh my! I have never seen a problem like this before. I am not going to promise you anything, but I will go to work on this right now and try and see what the angels and I can do for you?”

That is absolutely ridiculous! What Jesus did on the Cross covered it all! Redemption means He purchased our freedom with His blood. Freedom from what? Freedom from sin, the dominion of Satan, and the curse of the law. Christ has made us free! We have complete redemption. That means God didn’t leave anything out. He thought about everything. He planned and provided freedom in every area of your life.

Jesus paid too high a price for your freedom for you to be bound. Jesus paid too high a price for your victory for you to be defeated. Jesus paid too high a price for your healing for you to remain in your sickness. Jesus paid too high a price! You have been released from all the bondage of the devil. I wish I could slap you right now and tell you, “Get up now! You are no longer bound by those feelings. You are no longer bound by that unforgiveness! Get up! Get up! Get up!

➢ We are redeemed by the blood!

➢ We have boldness by the blood!

➢ We are forgiven by the blood!

➢ We are righteous by the blood!

➢ We overcome by the blood!

➢ We are blessed because of the blood!

➢ We are healed by the blood!

➢ We are delivered by the blood!
