How To Worship
Review from last week
The Seriousness of Worship is that He is looking for worshippers, and the enemy wants to alter your worship
He will withhold rain without Worship Zec 14:17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
He wants correct worship, we have to worship according to the pattern that He set up
When we understand we are worth the sacrifice God made for us we are motivated to worship Him
Let me add a few things about worship that I haven’t covered yet
Abraham was there in the first mention of the Word worship, but let me show you what was in him and why He was also someone so blessed and favored by God
Abraham was an altar builder- He used to worship the moon just like all those in his upbringing in the land of Ur. But when He got a Word from the Lord and was heading towards his destiny in the land of Canaan he continual built altars.
At many pivitol points in his walk towards what God had for him in his journey he built altars.
If you are walking towards your destiny you need to be an altar builder.
Gen 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
Gen 12:8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.
Gen 13:14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
Gen 13:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Gen 13:16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
Gen 13:17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
Gen 13:18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
You have to be able to build altars and sacrifice/worship in key transitions of your life
Now that we have built a solid foundation concerning the seriousness of worship, the what of worship. I think today is fitting that so give scripture on HOW TO WORSHIP. Because if we can move in to the HOW to do it then we will see the results of it. THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EXTRA PARTICIPATORY MESSAGE!
2Ch 5:12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) 2Ch 5:13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 2Ch 5:14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
2Ch 7:1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. 2Ch 7:2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house. 2Ch 7:3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
If we want that type of demonstration we need
1. Raised Hands-Psa 141:1 A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
Psa 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Early battles in Israel
First battle was through raising of his hands…we have always focused on the Rod being stretched out over the Red sea and that is correct, but that was to open the waters and let them walk on dry ground. That was not what allowed them to be made free from the pursuing after them. I never saw this before but last night the Lord opened my eyes to make this point
Exo 14:26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
Exo 14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
Some are going to out of Eygpt but are always going to have the enemy on their hills because they do not know how to stretch out their hands for the purpose of bringing destruction to their enemy
That’s why in Exo 17:11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
Upraised or stretched out hands is a Biblical symbol of power and strength over your enemy
Exo 17:12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Exo 17:13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
Exo 17:15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
Look at what Moses said afterwards-The most important thing flags or banners do, however, is mark victory. It is well understood that the conquering army in any battle has the right to remove the defeated country's flag and replace it with their own, usually in the highest spot possible for all to see. The country with the conquering flag has won and now they are in control.
He was saying God is our banner. A flag is a symbol that we are victorious
Paul said 1Ti 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
The Psalmist said Psa 134:2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
When you are raising your hands you are posting victory and you are raising the Banner of God!!!!
2. Open Mouth
a. Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: "Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.
In the KJV it says calves of our lips (calves is connected to sacrifice)
Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Psa 69:30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Psa 69:31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
Psa 69:32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
Look at last part of verse 32 You heart shall live that see God, (after the humble see this, see what the praise that goes up to God that is better than animal sacrifices. MY LIPS SHALL PRAISE YOU WHILE I LIVE
Psa 63:3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Psa 63:4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
3. With Music and Song
2Ch 20:18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
2Ch 20:19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
2Ch 20:22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
Are war is not natural so we need to fight supernatural. The Lord said this my battle so he surprised the enemy
4. Clapping of Your Hands
Psa 47:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
All you people, not all ye Pentecostals, not all ye certain personality traits. God is looking to send rain well get His attention through the Worship he honors
The Hebrew work for clapping in Psalm 47 is the Word tata, It means to “blow, to clap, to strike, to thrust, to drive, to give blast.” Sounds like an explosive word to me.
The king that refused to smite the ground more than three times didn’t think the natural act of smiting was a big deal or connected with the Supernatural. He just humored that old dying prophet right! But clapping your hands is so much more! It’s a spiritual force!
1. Worship with outstretched hands
2. Worship with an Open Mouth
3. Worship in Song
4. Worship in Clapping of Your Hands
