Message Point: We must purge ourselves of us and have Christ abide in us.
Focus Passage: John 15:1-11
Introduction: For some, 2015 has been an excellent year! For others, it has been the worst year of their life. Perhaps, it’s been a mixed bag for you, like most years, some good-some bad. No matter whether it has been good or bad, you need to look at ending 2015 well.
I. Confession
a. Admit what you did was wrong
i. To God
ii. To others
b. Attitudes
i. Jealousy
ii. Grudges
iii. Bitterness
iv. Anger
v. Pride
vi. Negativity
c. Words
i. Watch the WAY to speak to one another
ii. Watch what you SAY to one another
d. Deeds
i. Anything that doesn’t honor God
ii. Anything that would embarrass you or your momma
II. Repentance
a. Stop what you are doing wrong
b. Give it to the Lord
c. You cannot even repent on your own; at least not properly
III. Forgiveness
a. Forgive others
b. Forgiving others isn’t for the other person; it’s completely for you
c. You are commanded to forgive – COMMANDED!
d. Ask for forgiveness
i. From God
ii. From those whom you have wronged
Application/Invitation: During this time of invitation, ask the Lord to show you what you need to confess of, repent of, and who you need to forgive or ask forgiveness.
