Isaiah 64 REVIVAL PRAYING
1. A PLEA FOR GOD'S PRESENCE ON EARTH!
1 Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
A. THE PAST VISITATION OF GOD TO WHICH HE LOOKED.
how MAJESTIC was His visit. In verse 3 He says, "thou camest down."
how MARVELOUS was His visit.
3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for,
how MIGHTY was His visit 3 mountains flowed down at thy presence
B. A PRESENT VISITATION OF GOD FOR WHICH HE LONGS.
a PERSONAL demonstration of God's presence. - 1 Oh that thou wouldest
a PRESENT demonstration of God's presence. - thou wouldest come down
a POWERFUL demonstration of God's presence.
that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, 2 As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil..." describes an exploding volcano.
2. A PURPOSE FOR GOD'S POWER ON EARTH!
A. THE PERSONAL ACQUAINTANCE WITH GOD PRODUCED.
2 to make thy name known to thine adversaries,
B. THE NATIONAL REVERENCE FOR GOD PRODUCED.
2 that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
3. A PREREQUISTE FOR GOD'S PEOPLE ON EARTH!
The CONFESSION OF:- A. THE SINS OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD.
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. - Sin must be Confronted, Confessed, and Cleansed
B. THE SILENCE OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD. 7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee:
There was not only iniquity, but there was also indifference.
Isa 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
