His Merited Satisfaction
v. 11 "He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."
Note:-
1. The Satisfaction of the Saviour
Travail - means trouble, toil, trial of his soul not body
His sufferings were more than mere physical sufferings
Satisfaction not only for his sufferings but in his sufferings
Hebrews 12 v. 2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Note:-
(a) His Inspiration - "Looking unto Jesus" i.e. follow him
(b) His Motivation - "For the joy that was set before him."
(c) His Humilation - "Endured the cross, despising the shame"
(d) His Exaltation - "And is set down at the right hand of the throne of God"
Why was He satisfied in His sufferings? - He knew it was for:-
(1) The Salvation of the Sinner i.e. Salvation is not of our merit, but of His mercy
2 Samuel 14 v. 14 "For we must needs die, and are as water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him." - "devise means"
Its a:-
Promised way, a Purchased way, a Provided way, and a Proven way
Whereby His banished are not expelled

(2) The Vindication of the Soverign
Romans 3 v. 25 & 26 "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus."
"That He might be just" - God's justice intact i.e, sin punished
"And the justifier of Him" - God's mercy extended - Romans 3 v. 24 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:"
"Which believeth in Jesus" - God's wisdom revealed i.e.
There is the:- Cost - Jesus, The Condition - "believeth", The Consequence - justification.
(3) The Manifestion of the Spirit i.e. "God is love" D.L. Moody lights
John 3 v. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The Proclamation of Love - "For God so loved the world"
The Proof of Love - "He gave His only begotten son"
THe Provision of Love - "That whosoever believeth in Him"
The Protection of Love - "Should not perish"
The Promise of Love - "But have everlasting life"
(4) The Destruction of Satan 1 John 3 v. 8 "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
(5) The Perfection of the Saviour - Hebrews 2 v. 10 "For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."
Deuteronomy 34 v. 1 - 3 "And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan, And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea, And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar." e.g.
Moses surveying the promised land so Jesus could see the results of Calvary -
Luke 9 v. 28 - 36 "And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. The joy of the:-
(a) Sufferer who's sufferings are past
(b) Sower who's reaping at last
(c) Shepherd who's calling his sheep
(d) Soverign who's minding his keep
2. The Justification of the Sinner - v. 11 "By His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."
2 Corinthians 5 v. 21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
1 John 3 v. 5 "And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin."
Note:-
(a) The Difference - Man is sinful but Christ is sinless
(b) The Dilemna - Job 25 v. 4 & 5 "How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight."
(c) The Defence - "by his knowledge"
Ephesians 1 v. 6 "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."
