Isaiah 43 v 1 - 7 10 Reasons To Fear Not Because Of :- I. Of Regulation 1 But now thus saith the LORD that "created thee", O Jacob, and he that "formed thee", O Israel, (a) The Timing But now (in spite of past judgments for Israel’s sins) Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. (b) The Teaching thus saith the LORD Here Is Authority, Authenticity, Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. & Ability. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (c) The Testing that "created thee", Exodus 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: II. Of Redemption "I have redeemed thee!" (v.1). 1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. (a) A Personal Redemption. Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, ie. It Was :-Planned By The Father, Purchased By The Son, & Proclaimed By Holy Spirit Isaiah 63:5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. (b) A Particular Redemption. 1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (c) A Powerful Redemption. (1) THE PURPOSE OF REDEMPTION from your vain conversation (2) THE PRICE OF REDEMPTION But with the precious blood of Christ (3) THE PARTICIPANTS OF REDEMPTION Forasmuch as ye know ie. Sinners Saved By Grace. Saved From :- (a) THE VANITY OF LIFE: (b) THE MASTERY OF SIN:
(c) THE CERTAINTY OF JUDGEMENT: "I have redeemed thee!" By the Price of my Blood! By the Power of my Grace!
III. Of Reception "I have called thee by thy name! (v. 1). There is a General Call. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. There is a Personnal Call Saul - Acts 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? "I have called thee." Zacchaeus - Luke 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.- Lazarus - John 11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. Reception ie. Not Only Have we Received Him, But He Has Received Us John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: IV. Of Regeneration "Thou art mine!" (v. 1). A. We are His Property! 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Malachi 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
B. We are under His Protection! John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
C. We live by His Provision! Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. V. Of Representation 2 thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; (a) Who will be with Us I will be with thee Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Lo means Behold
With Us :- In Person, In Power, & In Permanence even unto the end of the world (b) When will He be with Us When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; He is with Us all the Time but especially in trouble. Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. (c) Why will He be with Us Because Of :- Who He Is, (Our Saviour) What We Are (His Saved) What Salvation Is Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Loving 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us Loosing 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Lifting 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus Lasting 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. VI. Of Revelation 3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. • He is “I AM” • God is accountable to no one but Himself • He is responsible to no one but Himself • He is limited by no one but Himself • He is restrained by no one but Himself • He is answerable to no one but Himself A.W. Tozer “Man is willing to share himself, sometimes even to sacrifice himself for a desired end, but never to dethrone himself.” A true disciple has dethroned himself or herself and has restored the throne of their life back to its rightful owner. VII. Of Restoration 4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: The Saved are God's peculiar treasure- Luke 15:24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
VIII. Of Recognition "Thou hast been honorable!" (v. 4). We are not honorable by nature, nor by our deeds. But God by his grace has made us honorable in his sight Ezek. 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD. A. He gave us an honourable privilege- The Sons of God!
B. He gave us an honourable standing- Righteousness!
C. He gave us an honourable nature- "Christ in You."
D. He will bring us to an honourable inheritance- Heaven!
IX. Of Relationship "I have loved thee!" (v. 4). So greatly does the Lord God love his own elect that he will sacrifice men and nations for them! v. 4 therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
X. Of Reclamation "I have created him for my glory!" 7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (a) He created us for his Pleasure
(b) He created us for his Purpose
(c) He created us for his Praise A. He chose us for his own glory (Eph. 1:3-6).
B. He redeemed us for his own glory (Eph 1:7-12).
C. He called us for his own glory (Eph. 1:13-14).
D. He will show forth his glory in us in the last day (Eph. 2:7).That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
