Isaiah 6:1-13 Have You Seen The King?
I. Isaiah's Confrontation - 1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up.
A. He Saw The Position Of A Sovereign God - I saw also the Lord
It's Timing - 1 In the year that king Uzziah died -
It's Teaching - There are two kings in v.1.
Lam 5:19 Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.
It's Training - No Panic in Heaven - sitting upon a throne
In days of darkness, difficulty, doubt and despair, God is in control.
B. He Heard The Praise Of A Sinless God -
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
The chief attribute of God is not power. The seraphim were not crying "Omnipotent, omnipotent, omnipotent is the Lord of hosts." not perception - not crying, "Omniscient, is the Lord of hosts." not presence - not crying, "Omnipresent, is the Lord of hosts. But purity - They were crying "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts."
He loves godliness, hates wickedness, and judges in righteousness.
Holiness is not something God has, nor does. It is something God is. Ex 15:11 Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Psalm 99:5 Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy. - holy is repeated In Hebrew poetry for emphasis.
C. He Learned The Purpose Of A Supreme God
3 the whole earth is full of his glory "The chief end of man is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever." I Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
II. Isaiah's Conviction - 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips:
Isaiah saw the Lord in his holiness, himself in his sinfulness,
and the people in their wickedness. Ch 5 woe on everybody else. But now "Woe is me, for I am undone!"
When Isaiah saw God in his holiness he saw himself in his hellishness.
Job 42:5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes
III. Isaiah's Confession - 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips,
True conviction brings true confession.
Some call it a phobia, a complex, an illness, a problem, but not sin.
IV. Isaiah's Cleansing - 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. - Sometimes We say things we shouldn't say, but oftentimes, we don't say things that we should say.
I'm not ashamed to own my Lord, or to defend his cause.
V. Isaiah's Call - 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

God does not demand a perfect vessel, but a clean vessel.
VI. Isaiah's Commitment
A. To The Will Of God - 8 Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Not "Here I am!" - his Location. But "Here am I!" - his Vocation.
"Look no further, send me."
B. To The Word Of God - 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people,
C. To The Work Of God - 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
