Psalm 121 Safe in the Arms of Jesus
1. The Hills He Examined 1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
(a) The Majesty of the Hills Psalm 125 v. 2 "As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever."
(b) The Mystery of the Hills - symbolic of God's presence, God's protection, God's power
(c) The Message of the Hills - made by a God who is:-
Unlimited in power,Unmoving in purpose, Unchanging in power
2. The Help He Enlisted
a) His power is unlimited 2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
b) His presence is unending 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. c) His protection is unequalled 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
3.The Hazards He Envisaged a) The danger of slipping 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: b) The danger of sleeping he that keepeth thee will not slumber. c) The danger of slacking 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
4. The Hope He Expressed a) The Lord would preserve him form every enemy 5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
b) The Lord would preserve him from every evil 7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
c) The Lord would preserve him for evermore 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
