Psalm 40:1-4 In God’s Choir
I. IT'S MEMBERS
A. It’s Members Are"Brought Up"
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay,
1. Out Of A Horrible Pit - taken from the mire to the choir
2. Out Of The Miry Clay
The longer a person stays in quick sand the deeper they sink.
B. It’s Members Are Set Up - 2 "Set my feet upon a rock." On Christ the solid Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.
C. It’s Members Are Held Up - 2 "Established my goings."
We are not merely holding on, we are held onto.
Ps. 119:117 Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.

2. Held up by Divine faithfulness - Grip
D. It’s Members Are Tuned Up
3 he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God:
II. IT'S MASTER - We have a choir leader.
A. All Eyes Are Upon Him - Ps 123:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
The choir must get its timing, its rhythm, and its emphasis from the choir leader. That is why they look to the choir leader.
B. All Voices Are Under His Command
He may ask the voices to get louder or softer.
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
III. IT'S MUSIC - "HE HATH PUT A NEW SONG IN MY MOUTH."
A. The Voices - bass, tenor, alto, and soprano.
All four parts bring out the best in a choir. Voices are diverse - some high, others are low, but that complements God’s choir.
Four things brings out the most in our voices:
1. Keep in trim (or in shape)
The voice must be cared for daily. Can become harsh and raspy.
2. Keep in tune - Some folks want to sing but cannot harmonize.
The key is giving yourself completely and wholly to God.
3. Keep in time - Stay together. Don’t go too fast or too slow.
4. Keep in team - Choir singing is not an individual effort.
We need to try to be in harmony with the other choir members.
B. The Practice
Rev. 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
Our choir practice should be held at the foot of the cross.
C. The Theme - 3 "even praise unto our God"
IV. IT'S MINISTRY
A. The Effect On Those Who Sing It - v.3 says, "many shall see it"
B. The Effect On Those Who See It
3 many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
