Psalm 14
THE RUINATION OF GOD'S CREATION - 14:1-3 The Contempt of the Fool - The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. I. The Atheistic Fool. Ps.14:1 "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." II. The Self-righteous Fool. cf. Pro. 28:26 "He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered." III.The Unbelieving Fool. cf Lk. 24:25 "Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:" IV. The Worldly Fool. cf Lk. 12:20 "But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?" The Character of the Fool - "they are corrupt" in their words, in their works, in their walk, in their worship (Ark) The Conduct of the Fool - "they have done abominable works," The Corruption of The Fool - "there is none that doeth good." The Commentary of the Lord - :2,3 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. His Standpoint - "The LORD looked down from heaven" His Subjects - "upon the children of men" His Search - "to see if there were any that did understand" His Seekers - "and seek God." Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. The Condemnation of the Lord - 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. They Found An Accepted Resolve - "They are all gone aside" Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. They Formed An Allegiance of Ruin - "they are all together become filthy" They Forged An Abhorrence To Righteousness "there is none that doeth good," They Forsook An Absolute Reality - (Judgement) "no, not one."
THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD'S CONFLICT - 14:4-6 The Ignorance of The Wicked - 14:4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. They Destroy The People of God - "Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, " They Disdain The Person of God - "and call not upon the LORD." They Deny The Power of God "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." Therefore No Judgement, No Condemnation, No Respect, No Repentance
The Insanity of The Wicked - 14:5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. God Will War Against The Rebellious - "There were they in great fear"
God Will Win Among The Righteous - "for God is in the generation of the righteous."
The Impertinence of The Wicked - 14:6 "Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge."
THE RETURN OF GOD'S CAPTIVES - 14:7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
The Rescue of The Captives - "Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! " The Restoration of The Captives - "when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people,"
The Rejoicing of The Captives - "Jacob shall rejoice, Psalm 126 :1 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. 3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
The Rest for The Captives - "and Israel shall be glad."
