Summary: WHEN MY CHANGE COMES

Job 14:1-15 WHEN MY CHANGE COMES

I. JOB'S CONCERN - 14 If a man die, shall he live again?

A. Death Is A Certainty - man is going to die!

Hebs 9:27 As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

2 Sam 14:14 For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground,

which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person:

yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

It's Compulsory - For we must needs die, No Choice

It's Coming - as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again;

Rev 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

It's Common - neither doth God respect any person

It's Compelling - yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him

B. Death Is A Tragedy - Ezek 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

The Commencement of Death - by one man sin entered into the world

The Cause of Death - and death by Sin,

The Course of Death - so death passed upon all men

The Curse of Death - for that all have sinned:

C. Death Is A Mystery - Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; -

Jesus speaks of:- Their Deeds, Their Deaths, Their Destinies.

II. JOB'S CONVICTION 4 all the days of my appointed time will I wait,

There will be tests, trials and temptations, but there will be TRUST.

Ps 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry

Gen 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

Heb 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

III. JOB'S CONFESSION -

4 all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

His Change will be:- Sure, Sudden, Substantial, and Soon. 1 Thes 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

A. Physical Change

1. In Address - John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

2. In Appearance - 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

B. Spiritual Change

1 Cor 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

3. Eternal Change - delivered from:- death, disease, decay, and destruction.

IV.JOB'S CONTENTMENT 15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee:

A. The Call Of Death - Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

B. The Call To Depart - Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

V. JOB'S CONSOLATION - thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Jude 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
