1 Kings 17:1-7 Cherith I. CHERITH IS A PLACE OF PROMISE V. 4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. It Was :- A Provided Place, A Prepared Place, A Personal Place, A Perfect Place, God always does what He promises He will do! , Rom. 4:20 Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Eph. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. CHERITH IS A PLACE OF PROVISION V. 6, And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. The Triumph Of His Provision the ravens The Testimony Of His Provision both bread and flesh The Timing Of His Provision in the morning & in the evening The Totality Of His Provision and he drank of the brook. CHERITH IS A PLACE OF PROVIDENCE V. 4, And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. God had commanded the Ravens before Elijah was even there ie. God was in Cherith before Elijah Before there was a need in Elijah’s life, God had already taken care of it! Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Genesis 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. IV. CHERITH IS A PLACE OF POWER 4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. Cherith & Zarephath, were places of miracles every day brought the ravens food. Luke 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. V CHERITH . IS A PLACE OF PROTECTION V. 3, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. Elijah was a Hated Man 1 King 18:17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? Elijah was a Hunted Man 1 King 18:10 As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not. Elijah was a Hidden Man he was under divine protection! Psalms 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. VI. CHERITH IS A PLACE OF PRIVILEGE 6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. Note It Was A :- Divine Supply the ravens Daily Supply in the morning Distinct Supply (Nothing but God) Mary and Martha, Moses, David, Noah, the disciples in the storm, the three Hebrews, Daniel! 5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. Notice that when Elijah arrived at Cherith, the Bible says that he “dwelt” there. That word means “to live, or to set up housekeeping”. Elijah went “there” to stay “there” until orders came to go somewhere else! So, if you are “there” just stay there!
