Summary: choose you this day

Joshua 24:13-15 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

1. JOSHUA'S DISCERNMENT - Joshua remembered

(a) The Goodness Of God 13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

(b) The Greatness Of God 14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

(c) The Grace Of God 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; -

God allows us to choose.

2. JOSHUA'S DECISION - but as for me and my house,

we will serve the LORD.

(a) A Pressing Decision - choose you this day

(b) A Personal Decision - "as for me"

A. This choice is not determined by your friends.

B. This choice is not decided by your surroundings.

C. This choice is not dictated by your elders.

D. This choice is decided by yourself alone.

(c) A Paramount Decision - "and my house"

A. Right choices lead to righteous living.

B. Wrong choices lead to worldly living.

(d) A Purposeful Decision - "we will"

(e) A Precious Decision - "serve the Lord"
