Luk 1:28-33
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
This passage of scripture deals with the announcement to Mary that she will be the gateway by which the Christ will come into the earth. She is a virgin, engaged to Joseph, who is now founded pregnant through the Holy Ghost.
In the fruit of her womb shall be Great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest. In other word, God will put GREATNESS in the womb of Mary. We need to take note that Mary’s family is not even mentioned in this passage or anywhere in this book. This makes us understand that she is not born out of elite or the famous families through bible history. She is just an ordinary woman minding her own business. It brings me to the understanding that God can choose anyone, to put greatness in them. And that you and I are not excluded.
Acts 10: 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons…
If we go to the book of Genesis reading the 2nd chapter we find In the 7th verse…
7And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
When we start talking about God we need to firstly understand how great God is…
- He opened his mouth in Genesis and called into existence the plants, animals, the moon, stars and the sun
- He is the one who put in place the law as to when the sun rise and when it goes down.
- He sat the seasons in place so that the follow in the right sequence
- He sits on the circle of the earth. He set the exact speed of the earth’s rotation around the sun. That is the sun rotates any slower we would burn death in the heat of the sun and if it moves any slow we would die of the cold.
- He is so great that when He looked for someone to swear, he couldn’t find anyone greater then Himself to swear by… So he swears by himself.
This great God who says I am who I says I am. I am… means that He is anything and everything that we could ever want him to be… He is God.
It is this great God who said; let us make man into our own image. This man must be great as I am great. For the man to be great as I am great, he needs to have in him what I have in me.
So after forming man from the dust of the earth, the body of the man lays on the floor…death and empty. Until God bended over and blow in the nostrils on the man, a part of Him in womb of the man. God shared a piece of His greatness with the man. Just like with Mary, He placed a piece of His greatness in us and wrapped it up in our womb.
There is a greatness inside of you that is still waiting to be discovered.
1 Cor 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
You have no idea what the measure of greatness is that God has placed inside of you. Don’t be fooled by the fact that you can sing, dance or your current achievements in live. That reason why you are still alive is because of the breath of life. And the breath of life is proof enough, that there is still more then enough untapped greatness left inside of you. But it is all wrapped up in your womb.
There are gifts, abilities and talents locked up in your womb, that is going to change the world as we know it. The world is in moaning and groaning, awaiting your greatness to be manifested in the earth. Yet it remains locked up for a time and a season. I want to be the one to announce… The time is now.
1. You being a Pastors Kid are no mistake, for you are purposed by design.
Gen. 2: 8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
God planted the Garden of Eden, meaning that He prepared where Adam would stay before placing the man in that environment. So where Adam was placed by God after creation was not a mistake. God didn’t make a mistake for you to be born into the family that you are born unto. God knew that the man I will put in this place will be able to cope with the tests and challenges that he will face, in the place where he lives.
He could have chosen any other person to grow up as a PK, but the reason why He chosen you is because He knew; you are able to handle it. You will be able to cope with the attitudes, modes, bad mouthing, rudeness and hurts that will be inflicted by the people.
Haven’t you notice, that the wrapping of a gift is always based on what on the inside. They don’t put metal in the same type or wrapping as they do glass. The reason being is so that that wrapping can withstand the impact of what is coming from the outside and still protect the fragileness of the gift that is on the inside.
2. Sometimes favour does not always look like favour
The Angel says to Mary… You are highly favoured among all women. I would have thought that since she is highly favoured, all things were supposed to work in her favour. For the gift in her womb speak of the greatness that she is about to give birth to in the earth. Yes… from the time she heard of her gift,
- She has to flee for her life
- Walk for miles
- Ride on the back of a donkey
- Cannot find a place to sleep
- Sleep in a barn with sheep and sheep dung
- And give birth to her baby in the barn between the hay.
You cannot expect to be extra ordinary and expect ordinary challenges. The level of you challenges is based on the greatness of your gift. Any women would tell you that the larger you carry during pregnancy, the harder the pregnancy. So if you are really under attack, you need to realise that you are carrying an enormous amount of greatness.
Mary is fleeing from Herod, not so much because the Herod is after her. The reason why Herod is after her, is because he wants to kill what she is carrying. Don’t be fooled my brother… it is not that Mary was great, but she was carrying a great gift.
3. The devil is after your gift.
I would have thought that since my father is a Pastor and sacrifice so much for the ministry. And give all his time to help people, and spend so much money on them, that as a PK I would have been placed in high esteem with the people whom he serves.
The fear of the devil is this, since I am the offspring of a Pastor, that God will ordain me as the next Pastor. So what he is doing in my childhood is trying to scare me off. Trying to hurt my in such a way that I don’t see myself putting my kids through the same mess. And I don’t see myself been hurt like my parents have been hurt. He knows that by hurting you that he manages to obscure your vision. And this is placing a whole lot of doubt in your mind as to the faith.
Imagine how confuse Mary must have been… How can I be favoured the way I am, yet have to go through so much? But the fight is a result of the favour.
Mary was carrying her gift in her womb… people must have been criticizing her, gossip about her and say nasty mean things to her. But no one knew what she was carrying in her womb. Greatness was pushing and kicking in her womb. The fight on the inside is more important than the fight on the outside. There was a wrestlle from the gift on the inside to be released. There is greatness inside of you that is crying out for you, not to give up in the fight. Just to remind you that you are born for this.
4. Lost time is not wasted time
Pregnancy is due to last for a period of nine months. It’s a very uncomfortable time for a woman, but she can’t speed up the time. She might be carrying the promise in her womb, but she have to wait until her time is due. It seems like it’s a long time to wait, and sometimes with complications it seems like she is wasting her time.
Makes me think of Moses, born an Israelite and destine to lead Gods people out for 400 years of slavery. Yet since his birth…
- Had to flee for his life as a babe
- Grow up as an Egyptian
- Killed a man
- Spend 40 years in the desert attending to sheep
Lost time I would say… yet he is carrying the promise.
But is due season, God used the life experiences he gained in the house of the Egyptians and the 40 years attending sheep, to free the people from Egypt and to lead Gods people 40 years in the desert.
Think of Joseph (the dreamer), born with a promise over his life that he will be seated on the throne and his brothers will come an bow before him. Yet while carrying this promise…
- He is hated by his brothers
- Rebuked by his parents
- Thrown in a pit
- Sold into slavery
- Cheated on by Potiphar wife
- Thrown in to jail
All seems to be lost time, yet in jail his gift started kicking. It brought him in to second in command of Egypt. And the promise came true, as his bothers came to bow at his feet. And God use him to be their provider.
I’m telling you that no matter what happened in your life and how far you might have drift off. All those lost times is not wasted time. God will give you double for your trouble and He will use your experiences, pain and frustration to be a blessing to someone else one day.
5. It’s time to release the gift.
Her gift was wrapped up inside her womb.
Matt. 2:11
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures…
Here we see the 3 wise man coming to Jesus with their gifts wrapped up. They came to where Jesus is and the fell on their knees. It was only when than that they had the opportunity for their gift to be opened.
You see the one who He place the gift in you care, is God, who wrapped it up and hid it in your womb. And for you to see your gift unwrapped you need to get to a place where you realise that you need to surrender unto God. You need to fall on your knees and worship the One who has given you the gift.
You cannot worship until you have surrender. Until you came to a place of confess your sins and you repent unto the Most High God. And He, who has wrapped it up, will unwrap it. And He will blow your mind with that treasures/gifts that you are carrying in your womb.
If you really want to know the through potential of a VW and the power of the engine, you need to consult with the manufacture. In that same manner God is the manufacture. He is the One who know what He has hidden inside of you. So today… it is not about if you are a PK or not. Not about if you are a pastor or not. But it’s about the greatness that is embedded in your womb.
You have been lost, you have made mistakes. You have walked away from the faith although you still going to church. You have lost your passion for God. But today God is calling you back to a place of worship. To a place where He can restore, heal and deliver.
There is a cry from God… and He is waiting for an answer. The choice remains yours.
