Brooks running with water!
Isaiah 30:25”….on every lofty mountain and every high hill there will be brooks running with water, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.”
I tell you friend, I cannot articulate in words the showers of joy and smidgens of comfort the above scripture offered me during a period of absolute drought in various forms in our ministry! With no rain for a long period, we did not have a drop of water in our school, the ground went dry! Bone-dry !
Actually, to start the day without water and running around to purchase water, right from toilet use to cooking, makes one feel frustrated, irritated and depleted. I went through that stage! Every day, along with the children we were praying for water during the school assembly, the situation continued for one week; while I was meditating the Bible during that week of drought, the above verse from the Bible caused my heart to flutter. Yes, flutter! I passionately and unabashedly wept as I preached a sermon on Saturday from the above verse ; God spoke to hearts that were broken, imagine springs of water being splashed on you when the enemy seems to be blasting you, your kids, finances, health, job and ministry. Boy! It was refreshing and revitalizing!
Friend, my walk with God for the past decade and half has taught me to trust Him no matter what the situation may be; I knew in my heart there was a purpose behind everything that God does in our life! The Lord says: “in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” (Verse 15) Give God a shout of praise! While I was distraught and engulfed with drought on all sides, my praises went high above, oblivious to my surroundings; I visualized water running not just in a valley but on lofty mountains! I was able to feel the chill splash all over me and over all that I was going through! The suffering did not matter while I was experiencing the deliverance in my soul! I might sound surreal to the few who need evidence; we got to learn to trust His promises and walk in faith!
Look what happened, while I was praising for the water, when the situation remain unchanged, BAM, it started raining on Sunday evening! Rain poured! Still raining….I write this message on Tuesday evening, actually I can hear the sound of rain! Ooh! Our school sump and over-head tank got filled with water! Glory to Jesus! Right now, I am speaking to someone out there! Stop crying and start praising! I was able to rejoice because I set aside quiet time with the Lord and meditated the Bible! God cannot whisper comfort when you are busy on the mobile or plotting to attack somebody! Relax!
The last portion of this message is the sweetest and the cutest, look what the Bible says: ‘the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.’ (Isaiah 30:18)
How does one react to the sumptuous spread of dishes on the table? Diners devour it first with their eyes, gobble in the aroma of food, before they actually start eating it; likewise, by faith enjoy it before you actually get to touch your miracle!
