It's a process. It's not a one time event. It will not happen overnight. Corruption is a process.

Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.
Corrupt or "phtheiro" in Greek means:
1. to shrivel or wither
2. to spoil
3. to ruin
4. moral influences: to deprave
5. to corrupt self, defile, destroy
To illustrate the effectiveness of corruption in corrupting a person when mixing with unbelievers.
ILLUSTRATION: One unbeliever said that it's not bad company to drink from time to time, now I said, the bible forbids people to get drunk, but how many times you get to be a drunkard? it's not one time drink he said, now after certain months, he's now a drunkard. It all started with one small glass of beer (just one time, he said) now he can't help it, he's already a drunkard.
