Walking in Victory
1st Peter 2:4-10 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Today I want to talk about living a victorious life for God through His grace. When the world is going crazy, the kids are going crazy, your family is going crazy, and your friends are going crazy there is a solid rock we can stand on that always has a firm foundation and cannot be shaken. This foundation is Jesus Christ and Him alone because He is the God that can open doors, close doors, and even remove doors and barriers in our lives.
1. We must continue to have a fellowship with Jesus (2:4-5).
First, we must maintain a continuous fellowship with the Lord through reading His Word, and in prayer. Prayer is the Christians greatest privilege, yet it is our biggest failure. Some of us only call on God when there is a serious situation that arises in our lives when we should have been in continuous contact with Him in the first place. Sin in our lives will always break your fellowship with the Lord, yet He is always faithful and ready to forgive you when you are serious about it.
2. We must continually trust in Jesus (2:6-8).
Second, we must always trust in God even when we don’t see His hands at work. Many times God is working behind the scenes to accomplish His work in us and for us. God will always answer prayers with a yes, or no, and then sometimes a not yet, so He can get others in line or get you right for what you are asking.
3. We must maintain a oneness with our God (2:9a).
Third, we must walk the walk as a Christian because we are a chosen royal priesthood, and peculiar people who should be giving God the glory and praises that He deserves. We are a reflection of Jesus and should be walking in love and in truth as ambassadors of Christ Jesus.
4. We must maintain a witness for God (2:9-10).
Fourth, we must continue to witness to our children, family, neighbors, and the rest of the world about how Jesus changed our lives and made us better and stronger. This is why we must build our houses on that solid foundation that Jesus has already laid for all of us so when the storms of life come rolling in we will be able to stand strong in the Lord.
