Who Is Against Us?
Romans 8:31-39
The result of what’s happening in this world is the progression of sin. We are told that the whole creation groans and we as believers are awaiting the adoption of the body.
What we must endure as believers must be understood as part of God’s…
• Plan
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God…
• Purpose
Mention: Vs.29 We are being conformed to the image of His Son
• Promise
Mention: Vs.30 One day when I see Him I will be as He is
The question is asked “If God be for us who can be against us?”
This presents several reasons why we should not live in fear:
1. God Is For Us
Statement: It is important for us to know that God is not against us but for us!
Behind all the situations and circumstances that we may be confronted with in this life even when it does not appear to be so “God is for us!”
See: Genesis 42:36 In Jacob eyes there was one tragic event after the other and in his circumstances said “all things are against me”
See: Daniel 3:16-17 The three Hebrew boys understood that.
Fear not for God is for you! Even when He is chastening us He is for us!
2. God Gave His Son For Us
See: Vs.32 He spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all…
Mention: Isaiah 9:6 for unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given
Question: What are the all things? Some have used this to preach prosperity.
a. Our Daily Needs
Mention: Matt. 6:32-33 The Lord tells us to take no thought concerning our needs
b. Our Daily Living
See: 2 Peter 1:3-9 We have been given in Christ Jesus everything we need to live the Christian life.
See: Romans 8:33 “Justifieth”
3. God Has Justified Us
We mention that to be justified is to be declared innocent as if we never sinned.
Vs.34a Who is he that condemneth?
See: Zechariah 3:1-4 I will cause thine iniquity to pass from thee.
These verses put forth the scene of the court room with the prosecutor (Satan) to the right of the defendant (us) and accusing us of that which we have done, but there between us and him stand our Advocate who declares us to be just.
4. Christ Prays For Us
See: Romans 8:34b He maketh intercession for us
Mention: Luke 22:31-32 I am reminded of when Jesus told Peter, Satan desired to have him to sift him like wheat, but also said to him I have prayed for thee
Mention: Hebrews 7:25 He ever liveth and maketh intercession for us
See: Hebrews 9:24 He appears in the presence of God for us
5. Christ Loves Us
Romans 8:35a Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Question: What is it that can cause Christ not to love us?
See: Vs.35b – 36 After the list of some things he reminds us that we are sheep for the slaughter
See: Psalms 44:22
See: Vs.37 We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us
6. God Has Secured Us
See: Romans 8:38-39 Nor any other creature can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
