Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. (Luke 13:10-13 NKJV)
Some of us today in this room are imprisoned by some sin or sinful thing which we can never seem to be set free from.
We have been chained, hand-cuffed, shackled, imprisoned, and trapped.
A person under bondage cannot enjoy the blessings of Abraham.
The plan of God for us is not to be bound and bend over..
A Woman is helper, comforter, companion, strengthener to mankind, everyman’s existence on earth starts with them (even our Savior, Jesus Christ’ existence on earth was as a result of The Holy Spirit implant in the woman) God’s plan on earth can be greatly hindered and humanity suffers as a result if and when this ‘helper’ is seriously handicapped, twisted, bent over that she can’t look up, and unable to strengthen herself.
The fact that she “could not…raise” herself up speaks of her utter helplessness and utter hopelessness. She was of no use to anyone. And the sad part about this story was that she was like this for “eighteen years”.
When a woman is chained she cannot function as a helper
When a daughter of zion is handcuffed she cannot flow in the spirit the way she supposed to!
When a daughter of Abraham is shackled... She cannot use her gift to full capacity...
When helper is bent over she cannot even help no one until she's free..
I've you find yourself in a situation where by you can't even counsel no one until you solve this problem?.
Many of us as female are bound by the word "woman" and we are twist over from fulfilling our calling...
Many are bound by the curse in Genesis 3 which makes men the master and women the slaves. It is a curse not the will of God. It is a curse not in the plan of God...
We're bound by this and not knowing that Christ has redeemed us from this curse of Law in Genesis 3.
She was bent over for 18years...
She had been afflicted with this for eighteen years.
When Jesus saw her, he called her over, “Woman, you’re free!
Woman, you are released [Ampl]
Woman, you are set free [N Int’l Version]
He laid hands on her and suddenly she was standing straight and tall, giving glory (praising God, praised and thanked God, glorified God).
I want to step into the apostolic office of a prophetess right here and prophesy to someone's life today that you might have been afflicted, you shall be made free and bless...
Any one here bound will be free in the name of Jesus...
The everlasting arms of God will touch you and set you free...
John 8:36 says Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:36 NKJV)..
There are couple of things I want to bring out about this woman's story that applies to us as Christian:
When it's the time to be set free and free indeed
No 1. Jesus will be the preacher of the day....
On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues” (v.10).
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WAS THE PREACHER ON THIS DAY.
The truth is this.. When Jesus goes to church he causes trouble... People that are bound by spirit of religion will be free....
When Jesus show up in church, the captives of the mighty shall be set free.....
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, Or the captives of the righteous be delivered? But thus says the LORD: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children. I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know That I, the LORD, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.” (Isaiah 49:24-26 NKJV)
You are breaking forth, you are breaking loose, you are breaking through, you will break barriers and limitation, whatever line the devil has drawn, you are crossing the lines, you are taking territory, you are crossing boundaries in the mighty name of Jesus.
No. 2 Jesus saw her...
The liberator will see you today....
I love how Jesus scanned through the crowd looking at everyone and he saw this woman. It will be good we can scan in the realm of the spirit to see who is in need and who has been crippled and bound in the realm of the spirit.
Jesus notices her, we have a God who sees our suffering and takes note of it.
Hebrews 4:15 says For we do not have a High Priest who cannot be sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
I strongly believe that we all need to be seen in the journey of our life. We all need to be known, loved , befriended, noticed. We need to be seen, and affirmed for who we are.
Many women are suffering behind the pews and no one see them...
Many women pastor are bound and crippled.
There are families struggling in our churches and no one can see them and their needs are not been met..
The Lord will see you...
No 3. Jesus called her ..Calling her over to Jesus!
As Jesus was preaching, He saw this crippled woman listening to him and He called on her to come forward.
I'm here to let you know that Jesus is calling you out of bondage... Are we going to even answer!! Sometimes we're so used to our twisted condition... We're so used to people abusing us... Used to been beaten by a man and when Jesus calls, we don't want to answer..... The devil is a liar!
I don’t know what your state is presently. Your ‘arthritis’ may not be physical ailment, it may be financial-: you cannot raise your head financially, You paste a smile on your face but your heart is filled with tears. You have asked questions year in and out yet no answer..
Wipe your tears for your Saviour call..Jesus is calling out to your today, because He delights in the prosperity of His children. Whatever ailments, God is willing and able to heal you.
He is the Balm of Gilead, He is the great Physician, she is the bright Morning Star that will shine His light in all your dark places; He is the compassionate Savior who has compassion on the daughters of Zion, He will not accuse you because He is your gentle Advocate. This daughter of Abraham was afflicted for 18 years running, no relief, and no solution in sight. Then, Jesus called out to her and her story changed.
Today, that financial, marital, health , relationship challenge will end if you only make up your mind that today is the end for God has promised that that which you say in His hearing, He will certainly do and He is not man to lie or change His mind .
No 4: Jesus lay hand on her..
"Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God." (13:13)
When this woman came right in front of Jesus, So he reaches out and puts his hands on her.
There is something powerful about the laying on of hands. Touch people when you pray for them if it's only to hold their hands. The synagogue ruler would not touch her, but Jesus did.
Immediately -- without any hesitation or gradually lifting up-- she straightens up instantly. I've heard people teach not to lay hands on people afflicted with spiritual oppressions, but Jesus didn't follow that rule. Greater is the power of the Spirit of God within Jesus than the power of the unclean spirit that has dwelt in this poor afflicted lady for 18 years. And Jesus' touch vanquishes and expels the demon. Suddenly she jerks erect. Bam! No hesitation. The spirit is gone!
No 5: He spoke a word of power, a word of life, a word of healing, a word of peace to her distressed life for eighteen years. He spoke a word of deliverance into her life. He said to her ''Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity''.
Woman, you are released [Ampl]
Woman, you are set free [N Int’l Version]
Immediately, the power which had made her to bent over herself was broken loose!
Today, we are breaking loose, breaking barriers, breaking limitation, breaking fort, crossing lines. We are taking over Territory. We are taking over dominion. We are in charge!
Finally, Luke records, "and she praised God." You'd better believe it!
You can imagine what she says: "Praise God! Hallelujah!" and she isn't quiet about it. Throughout the synagogue goes a murmur of amazement and wonder and approval. People are grinning from ear to ear. Women are weeping for the crippled, now-healed friend. The people are deeply moved -- all except the president of the synagogue.
Now it does not really matter who is happy for your deliverance..
It does not really matter who is happy for your liberation!
The most important thing is that once I was bent over but now I am straighten up! What did you say?
Just praised and thanked God!
God is delighted when we are happy.
This year, you live shall be filled with laughter. You will shout for jubilation and sing – He has made me glad, I am so glad, I will rejoice for He has made me glad.
Joy shall abounds in your home, ministry and God will fill your mouth with laughter.
I am just Grateful to my Saviour!
I don't know the type of sin that bound you... I don't know material things that bound you... I don't know who is thinking I cannot survive without doing this thing... Jesus is calling you... Will you answer him?. If he set you free you're free indeed...
What bondage are you in and you're thinking I cannot find way out... Don't worry... That woman must have tried for 18 years like the woman with the issue of blood tried for 12 years... But Jesus make the difference in their lives. He is calling you too!
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says,
"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Come to this altar... Come surrender to him.... The beginning of blessing is to answer his call.
Jesus need this woman near him. He need a closer relationship. Then he began to speak strong words of Liberty...
It was when this woman arrived to where Jesus was ministering that he started to speak Liberty.
Jesus speaks to the lady: "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."
Today I decree you're free and you're free indeed from your infirmity in Jesus name.
