DON’T JUDGE OTHERS BECAUSE THEY SIN DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU DO
Matthew 7:1-5 6-28-15 many am dlowe (This sermon has quotes and
thoughts from many sources that I acknowledge as not my own original thoughts)
The Supreme Court has given THEIR definition of marriage.
Everyone has an opinion.
An opinion does not necessarily make a statement or definition
true.
You can’t legislate morality, BUT you can legislate immorality.
Legal in the eyes/mind of man does not equate legal/righteous
in the eyes of God
This has been a monumental week as far as our country is
concerned.
We have turned yet another corner in our rebellion against God.
We started in the 1960’s when:
Theologians said, God is Dead.
The Supreme Court said: Abortion is a right, not a sin/murder.
This week our Supreme Court felt they had the right to legalize
Homosexual Marriage.
God’s Holy Word says differently on all these counts.
Abomination to God
Sodom and Gomorrah
Daniel 9:9-11 To the Lord our God belong mercies and
forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; 10 Neither
have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his
laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing,
that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured
upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the
servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
Marriage is between One man, One Woman
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his
mother, & shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Social Media, news channels, individuals have had many
comments, posts, quotes, arguments, this week concerning the
Supreme Courts Decision on Marriage.
I would like to consider and respond to some of these by looking
at God’s Word and what He has to say.
It really doesn’t matter what you, the Supreme Court, I, or anyone
else has to say about anything.
God HAD the first Word, “In the beginning God” Genesis 1:1
God WILL have the last Word, “Surely I Come Quickly” Rev 2:20
Time to Put God back into this house(Picture of White House)
More Important Question, Is God in YOUR house?
IS it time to put God back into YOUR house?
Joshua 24:15-16 15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the
LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the
gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the
flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as
for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should
forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;
Marriage was defined by God. No man can redefine it.
We will defend our religious liberties. (Franklin Graham)
I agree that marriage is defined by God and I believe we should
defend our religious liberties.
HOWEVER a bigger and more important question is
Will You Live Your Religious Liberties?
Are you living in sin in some other area that only you and
God know about?
Are you Judging Others Because They Sin Differently
Than You Do?
Does pointing out and dwelling on the sins of others make
you feel more secure and justified in your sin?
2 Chronicles “14 If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn
from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I wonder what is worse in God’s sight?
SINNERS doing what sinners are suppose to do, SIN
OR Christians doing what they are not suppose to do, SIN?
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die
Matthew 7:1-5 Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what
judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure
ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest
thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the
beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy
brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a
beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the
beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to
cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up
himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you,
let him first cast a stone at her
Micah 6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what
doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love
mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Keep reading if you like)
2 Timothy 4:3 the time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their
ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for
whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that
soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that
soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
We, as a nation, have been sowing the flesh(whatever I want,
whatever makes ME feel good, whatever I think) for the past
50 plus years. Even the church is guilty.
What has the church done to stop evil and sin(prayer less schools,
murder by abortion, humanism, ANY EVIL/SIN?
Where Is God Rated in your Values, Your Time, Your Money?
HOWEVER please don’t forget, it is ALL His.
James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father
If you have not been giving and are not giving God His due,
in EVERY area of your life, you are stealing, robbing, God.
Are you without sin?
Are you living for self or God?
Are you judging others but forgetting, ignoring the sin in your
own life?
HOWEVER, there is good that God wants to bring to us even
in what has and continues to happen around us.
Revelation 3:8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you
an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little
strength, have kept My work, and have not denied My name.
There is still an open door for God to work
The key is how we will respond.
With anger, hate, bitterness, accusations, condemnations or
His Perfect Love, which casts out fear.
We cannot and will not change one person from the outside in.
Only God can change anyone and that is from the INSIDE OUT.
REMEMBER that is how He CHANGED and CONTINUES to
CHANGE YOU and ME.
We as individuals and as a nation are being destroyed from within
There is hatred, fear, mistrust, anger, rebellion, violence, rage,
violence brought about by:
Confederate Flag, Police actions, Homosexual rights, Welfare,
Obamacare, Republicans, Democrats, Christians speaking
hate, and anything and everything else.
The problem with America is not a flag, the police, politicians, the
president, homosexual marriage, or any of the other things/ideas
that offend you.
The problem with America is a HEART Problem.
We have lost our heart/desire for God.
We worship the created(things) rather than the Creator(God)
We seldom show up late for or miss an appointment with our
doctors or anyone else, but we think nothing of missing an
appointment with God every day.
We never miss or late pay a car, boat, RV, house payment, but
we rob God of His tithe and offerings and think nothing of it.
We can easily see the speck in the eyes of others, but fail to see
the two by four that is in our own eye.
We want to call down fire from Heaven to destroy our enemies
and other sinners but ask God to bless us when we misuse
and abuse the time, talents, abilities, gifts and blessings He
has given to us.
And Sin? What sin? Surely not me? Do you say the following?
I never lie, steal, cheat, gossip, lust, have evil thoughts.
I always do everything God lays on my heart to do.
I never sin by either committing sins OR failing to do what I
know I should do.
Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven
are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and
hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked
imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false
witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among
brethren.
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the
law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
Luke 16:13-15 No servant can serve two masters: for either he
will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the
one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these
things: and they derided him. 15 And he said unto them, Ye are
they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your
hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is
abomination in the sight of God.
God DID destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for sexual sin.
God also turned Lot’s wife into a Pillar of Salt for disobeying
and simply looking back on the sinful place she was leaving.
God also destroyed those who touched the Ark of the
Covenant when they did what they knew not to do.
God also rebuked, chastened, Israel over and over again
because of her sin, rebellion, disobedience.
God also struck Ananias and Sapphira dead for lying to Him.
Acts 5:1-11
Do you, DO I have unfulfilled promises to God?
YES, the events of this past week are unsettling, sinful, ungodly.
HOWEVER we must make sure our house is clean and that we
are in a right relationship with God before we can even begin
praying for others, much less begin judging them.
We say, “Love the sinner, hate the sin”
BUT do we really love them or just love talking ABOUT THEM.
While there is little you and I can do to change any decision made
by the Supreme Court, there is everything we can do to change
our relationship with God
James 4
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come
from your desires that battle within you?
2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong
motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with
the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who
chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously
longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will
flee from you.
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your
hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning
and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord,
and he will lift you up.
11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who
speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks
against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are
not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to
save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
Boasting About Tomorrow
13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to
this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make
money.”
14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What
is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and
then vanishes.
15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live
and do this or that.”
16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting
is evil.
17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t
do it, it is sin for them.
Will you ask God how He wants to change and use you in these
difficult, sinful, rebellious times that we live in, OR will you
point to the sins of others and draw away from Him as well.
