Go: iEvangelize
Once, there was a couple who attended church services for most of their lives. They were getting older, as both had retired, had kids who had left and gone on to other things and they were simply living their lives out.
One particular day, at church, the pastor discussed evangelism. This sermon stirred their hearts and the couple began to discuss and pray over what God would have them do about reaching out to others.
Then, on one particular day, the couple was returning from a church service, when they noticed a number of police vehicles in a trailer park, close to their home. After investigating, the couple learned that this trailer park was infamous for being a major drug trafficking center.
The couple prayed, sought counsel and eventually sold their home, moved into this park and began an outreach ministry to the people who lived there.
What changed these two people?
Well, they realized, two truths.
1. All men are without hope until they receive Christ. (Eph. 2:1-6)
2. Believers are commanded to evangelize. (Matt. 28:18-20)
What is Evangelism?
By definition it is a lifestyle; a movement.
The great commission provides the continuation of the ministry of Christ.
The great commission allows us to put our faith into action.
Evangelism is sharing the Good News-that Jesus came, lived a perfect life, died in our place for our sins and on the third day, he rose again. (1 Cor. 15:1-5)
The Purpose for Evangelism
1. For the Glory of God. (Isa. 43:6-7)
2. When we glorify God, we find our purpose. (I Cor. 10:31)
3. We are saved to bring God glory. (I Cor. 6:20)
4. To make Disciples.
5. We share our testimony and our lives with others.
6. We are to serve others.
7. We are ambassadors.
This is our CALL...
In Matthew 28:18-20, our command is to…go
In Mark 16:15, our command is to… Preach.
In Luke 24:46-47, our command is to preach…the message.
In Acts 1:8, our command is to …be witnesses. (It’s all about teamwork)
