A trusted servant is the person who gets to wear the key to the King’s house, or like Peter, is given the “keys to the Kingdom.”

I want to explore a topic that requires as much of us, or more, than any other area of our kingdom walk, or our journey toward being trusted of God.

I want to talk about adversity.

I remember when I first came back to the Lord.
Recuerdo que cuando llegué por primera vez al Señor.
I was really hungry.
Yo estaba realmente hambriento.
I was really eating up everything that was on the table in front of me.
Yo estaba realmente comer de todo lo que estaba sobre la mesa, delante de mí.
If a crumb fell to the ground, I’d bend over, pick it up and eat it.

I wanted, more than anything, for God to know that He could count on me.

Then, just as I was finishing Bible School, I got diagnosed with cancer.

Here’s what I can say about that: Adversity really gets your attention!

Suddenly, I was forced to face a problem that was too big for me to resolve.

I couldn’t continue to pursue goals, tasks, and relationships in the same way.

Out of that time of facing adversity, I learned to rely on God in ways that I never would have in any other way.

Adversity became the classroom where I learned to become less like me, and more like Christ.

The day of adversity reveals whether we are strong or weak in our faith.

Here’s the thing: We will be tested.

Because that’s just not what God had in mind for that situation.

Based totally on God’s purpose in our lives, adversity “works together” with some other stuff for our good and God’s glory.

We think faithful Christians don't deserve to suffer.

From God's perspective, suffering is what produces faithful Christians.

If we all had lives of ease: no opposition, no trials, no pain, we'd never really know God, because we'd never need Him.

If what we believe is never tested by adversity, it remains head knowledge.

How can we know that God can be trusted if we've never been challenged?

To get us to stray from the course we’ve been following.

Remember, God isn’t the “bringer” of the adversity. Satan is.

And remember, Jesus gave us clear warnings that life would have trouble.

God only had 2 options:
1. make us puppets who worshipped Him automatically
2. go with creating creatures who were imperfect (including Lucifer)

Adversity doesn’t negate the PLAN!!

Jesus taking our yoke, is a part of the plan!

Our way of handling adversity should be to proudly proclaim, “Made in the Kingdom of God.”

So, let’s look at a few ways adversity brings Godly change.

1. Adversity motivates us to cry out to God.

God responds to the cry of His children when they suffer.

Adversity brings knowledge!
La adversidad nos trae conocimientos!
Struggle leads to knowing more about God!

3. Adversity motivates us to examine our inner lives.
3. La adversidad nos motiva a examinar nuestras vidas interiores.
We need to know who we really are!!!
Tenemos que saber quiénes somos en realidad!!!
We are shaped and live according to what we think about ourselves.
Estamos formados y vivir de acuerdo a lo que pensamos de nosotros mismos.
4. Adversity is evidence of spiritual warfare.
4. La adversidad es la prueba de guerra espiritual.
We must be aware of the spiritual battle between God and the enemy.
Debemos ser conscientes de la batalla espiritual entre Dios y el enemigo.
Struggle is painful. No doubt about it.
Lucha es dolorosa. No cabe duda de ello.
But it doesn’t have to be all there is.
Pero no tiene que ser todo lo que hay.
In fact, one of the most valuable blessings of adversity comes when we are able to help others face their adversity.

To God be the glory!! Right?!!
