Soap bubble confidence!
Numbers 14:14”O LORD, are in the midst of this people. For you, O LORD, are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.”
Is your confidence in God like soap bubble or is it strong in the midst of storm? Have you ever felt God face to face in the midst of pain, agony and loneliness? Recently I was talking to a young Engineer who has been married and without a kid for three years; when they had just a month to complete three years of marriage, God opened the windows of heaven and opened the womb of his wife. Lovely! While we were discussing the three years of pain they endured, doctor visits, medication, disappointment and humiliation, he said, ‘as I drive my car I always put my other hand around the empty seat next to me since I felt HIM seating with me in the car and I kept talking to Him all my pain and love for Him as well.” This is what you call as ‘face to face with God in the wilderness!’
I have also been feeling the strong presence of God in my life ever after the forty days of fasting this year, though many problems still persists: the water in our School bore-well is still dry, many other problems have been choking me; yet, the IRRESTIBLE presence of God has been enough to drive away all the other negative thoughts into oblivion and Jesus has taken dominion over my life! Glory to Jesus! I wake up with thoughts of Jesus and go to sleep listening to either good Christian music and powerful sermons of anointed people right through midnight. Still I feel the yearning for God more and more………..I wake up midnight and think about Him……I go to work in the morning with red eyes and severe body ache due to lack of sleep and rest; YET, I long to do it again and again. My prayers requests are yet to be answered but that does not in any way hinder my intimacy with God. This is what you call as ‘face to face with God in the wilderness!’
God had wonderfully delivered the people of Israel from the clutches of slavery and was in the midst of them, “By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.” (Exodus 13:21)How wonderful! Yet we see the Israelites refuse to enter the promised land of Canaan for fear of the tall people whom they call giants who lived there. Numbers 13:33” And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants.” Amidst avalanching anxiety, their confidence collapsed like soap bubble! Is your confidence like soap bubble or is it strong like a rock?
Friend, how you perceive a problem and crisis depends on how you identify your God! If you feel your God is Big, colossal and magnificent then your problem becomes dwarfed! Amen. Despite God talking face to face with the Israelites, they were not able to grow in faith. This is simply miserable!
I caution many people through the Word of God to move away from idol worship, corrupt practices, wickedness and consecrate their life; yet, many overlook because of their disbelief in mighty power of God.
