Prim and proper!
Luke 18;39”…..But he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Nobody could stop the blind beggar Bartimaeus from screaming out to God for mercy, many tried to stop him and the Bible says, ‘he cried out all the more!’ This passage from the Bible is simply awesome, it brings a springy feeling that should wake up the complacent Christians. He cried out all the more! He cried out all the more! Oh Yeah! He cried out all the more! Calling out to God more and more is the outstanding thing to do rather than tapping and calling the wrong person! Anybody listening? Jesus-is-the-all-in-one-solution! Hurray!
You cannot be prim and proper, dignified, snobbish with the nose up in the air and snooty while there is an: excruciatingly painful situation in your life that is gnawing at you, disaster waiting to destroy you, storms threatening to drown you; you would do all it takes to get rid of it. Are you listening? Bartimaeus, the blind beggar, who was sitting by the roadside everyday decided that he would get rid of all hindrances, barriers and blockades that would stop him from reaching JESUS, because he determined in his heart not to miss the chance! The chance of meeting the Messiah! The chance of meeting Peace! The chance of meeting the Healer! I am speaking to someone out there! His faith in the good news that he heard about the miraculous power in Jesus was so strong that he chases Jesus until the Messiah stopped. Boy! What a prayer! How could a compassionate and loving Father ever ignore such a passionate plea? Look what happened:
• 51 Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" And the blind man said to him, "Rabbi, let me recover my sight."
• 52 And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.
Some of our faith in Jesus is so ambiguous, that no one is struck with it! We gripe, complain, murmur, rebel and live lazy lives that our situation plummets down further and further rather than recover; blind Bartimaeus gets his sight recovered and his situation changes wonderfully because he refused to give in to status quo life! Are you hearing me please? You don’t have to stay in the stink when new life is available; nevertheless, it requires persistence, consistence and diligence to follow Him aggressively. Slothful life will lead to horrible life!
If you have to change your way of talking, do it, if you have to make changes in your life style do it, if you have to change your time schedules and separate special time for God, do it, if you have to say ‘sorry’ and humble yourself, do it, if you have to do additional work do it – move!
There are scores of people who need deliverance, who need a miracle, who need healing and who need peace and happiness; yet, they walk in late to church, swing their hands and enter the church with a mobile and tab but without their Bibles, they would browse their mobiles during the sermon and walk out early before the service could get over; how could God ever bless such atrocious and careless people?? Give JESUS your best of everything and watch your life prosper!
Rev Carter Conlon said: “Faith does not take us to where we are comfortable or can manage in our own strength. No! Faith takes us to places where only faith can sustain us.”
