Legally right but ethically and spiritually wrong……
Psalm 11:7” For the LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.”
We call this holy week! Some Christians are rolling the rosary beads and uttering long prayers, there are others who are fasting and praying, some have given up on delicious food and many other such things; however, let us today search our hearts to see if all areas of our life are matching the Word of God! He loves righteous deeds!
Mary’s husband is in the army and she is eligible to buy things from the army canteen and she gets it half the price compared to the local market. Now, Mary helps her friend Elizabeth to purchase provisions and various other things from her husband’s army card. Is this right or wrong? Well, they were not robbing from the canteen, though, they were just utilizing the benefit offered to them! Did you notice the names that I used here? Mary and Elizabeth! Yes, Christians forget ethics, this tantamount to cheating and theft. Forget Christians, pastors make use of such facilities. Let us repent. Some things may be legally right but it is ethically wrong! Are you there?
After hearing my preaching in the afternoon prayer cell while I was working in the bank, one youngster went back to his department returned fifty rupees to his supervisor and said, ‘I came by bus and charged auto fare, I’m sorry sir.’ Believe me, this happened. How do I account my daily allowance when I travel? Many of you may follow the crowd who submit huge false expenses and pocket the money. Let me just tell you one thing, ‘claim what you have spent, that’s it.’ Anything above that would be sheer cheating the company.
As he was riding along they came to a red light & the driver went right on through the red light; incidentally this person was going fast to attend the evening service at church, imagine! Anybody listening to me? Now what about stuffing a hundred rupee note as bribe into the hands of the traffic cop to avoid being booked for transgressing traffic rules? Abortion may legally right but Biblically wrong, likewise homosexuality and many other things!
Have you been a stickler where adhering to the laws of God is concerned? Have you been so firm in your adherence to principle that you have been judged to be obstinate, fanatic and crazy? I was ostracized and abandoned for following the rules of God strictly! I am considered crazy if I warn the church members to strictly adhere to church timings. We have lived on our own terms too long, hence we need a lot of grit and fortitude to abide in God and His Word. There is great reward for those who follow His rules one hundred percent.
