Summary: How the Story of the adulterous woman is a fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles, and foreshadows the return of Jesus to Jerusalem.

THE LIVING WATER

John 7:1, After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. 2 Now the Jew's feast of tabernacles was at hand. 3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. 4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. 5 For neither did his brethren believe in him. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready. 7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. 8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come. 9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. 10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. 11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? 12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. 13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews. 14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple...

John 7:37, In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Somebody say LIVING WATER.

John 8:1, (the next day) Jesus went unto the Mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

I want to speak tonight on the subject THE LIVING WATER.

I read several scriptures before you tonight. And I want you to understand them. There is more to these scriptures than meets the eye. There is more to understanding them than can be grasped upon their first being read. There is something very special going on here. Jesus did not do anything by accident. He did not do anything by happenstance. Everything He did was for a greater purpose. Have you ever asked yourself before, What did Jesus write in the dust of the ground? And why?

The occasion of the woman taken in the act of adultery occurred immediately after a very important day for the Jews. It was Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. This was a feast to commemorate when the children of Israel lived in the wilderness, abiding in tents. It happened five days after the day of atonement, when, once a year, the High Priest would enter into the Holy of Holies and sprinkle blood upon the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Testimony. It was the last of the Pilgrimage feasts, along with the Passover and Shavuot, or Pentecost, when all of Israel gathered together in Jerusalem. It was a time of great joy. It is also referred to as Chag Ha-Asif, the Festival of Ingathering, a time for bringing in the harvest.

The ritual associated with the Feast was nothing short of spectacular. Thousands of "tabernacles" made of olive, myrtle, palm and other branches (Neh. 8:15) dotted the streets and roofs of Jerusalem, as the Feast opened with an exuberant celebration at the Temple. Leaping flames from four gigantic menorot flooded the Temple Mount with daylight brilliance, while beneath the great lampstands the people danced and sang to the Lord. Through the open gates leading from the Court of the Women the illumination of the candelabra and the sounds of worship and praise spilled out into the Court of the Gentiles.

AND JESUS SAID, I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD…

Each morning the High Priest, accompanied by a procession from the Temple, went down to the Pool of Siloam and filled a golden pitcher full of water. The people responded with joy, for they knew the significance of the scriptures in Isaiah 12:3, “Therefore with joy shall ye draw waters from the well of salvation…”

They understood that this scripture alluded to the coming of the Messiah. It is interesting to note that the word translated as Salvation in Isaiah 12:3 is Yeshua, which just happens to be the Hebrew name of the one we call Jesus!

THEREFORE WITH JOY SHALL YE DRAW WATERS FROM THE WELL OF JESUS!!

Then, a priest would blow a trumpet, and a man playing a flute would lead the people of Israel up from their temporary booths of dwelling, to the temple, calling, “Come, Let us go up to the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob.”

The word for flutist in Hebrew is Hala, meaning the one who is pierced. Is this a description of Jesus, whose hands, feet and side were pierced?

As the sweet savor of the last morning sacrifice rose from the altar of burnt offering into the sky, the High Priest re-entered the Temple. There he was met by another priest bearing wine for a drink offering, crushed from the grapes gathered in just before the Feast. Through silver funnels the priests simultaneously poured their libations out at the base of the altar. The water, CALLED THE LIVING WATER, symbolized the Holy Spirit poured out upon men, flowing down the Temple steps into the outer courts. WINE AND WATER MIXING TOGETHER…

Is it any wonder that, at Calvary, when they pierced the side of Jesus, blood and water poured forth?

The Feast of Tabernacles has a fuller and deeper significance than a mere memorial celebration. It also holds a future meaning, IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FUTURE COMING OF THE MESSIAH. “The Festival of Ingathering.”

It was at the height of the ceremony, the last day of the feast, when Jesus cried out, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Then, the next morning, the Bible tells us Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. The Mount of Olives is directly outside Jerusalem. It is, in my opinion, the most glorious place on Earth. It is upon this mountain that Jesus departed in clouds, up to Heaven. It is upon this mountain we received the promise by two men in white apparel, saying that Jesus would return exactly as He left. He left in the clouds on the Mount of Olives. He is returning in clouds of Glory, upon the Mount of Olives.

Then, He went to the temple, where something extraordinary happened. The Scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in the very act of adultery. They accused her before Him, saying, “Moses said she should be stoned. What do you say?” Then Jesus did something that seems strange to many. He stooped down and began writing in the dust of the ground with His finger. He said, “He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone at her.” Then He started writing again. Then, one by one, they turned away from Him, leaving Him alone with the adulterous woman.

What did Jesus write? I want you to understand something. When Jesus, God manifest in flesh, the Word of God robed in flesh, writes something, it is very important.

So what did He write? I am glad you asked. There is an obscure prophecy in Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 17:2, A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. 13 O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters.

NIV says: Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water.

Jesus wrote the names of those who rejected Him, THE LIVING WATER, in the dust, and one by one they turned from Him.

Speaking of the New Jerusalem, Revelation says,

Rev. 21:22, And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

And Jeremiah said, Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water.

I want to be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, not in the dust.

And He asked the woman, “where are your accusers,” and He comforted her.

Throughout the Old Testament, Israel is depicted as an adulteress, having broken her covenant with God, and fornicating with idols. She was caught in the act, so to say, and worthy of judgment. She was taken from her home, and scattered to the four corners of the Earth. But God had mercy on her, and, in 1948, the Nation of Israel was reborn.

The time of the gentiles is coming to an end. God promised He would come to her. Her Messiah came, and she did not know Him. But He is coming again. And, as He comforted the adulteress woman, He will comfort her.

Zechariah 12, they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. 11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem

Rev. 21, And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

And we find Jesus coming to this feast, Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, in SECRET.

2 Peter 3:10, But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night…

1 Thes. 5:2, For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

Joel 2:1, Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

Jesus is coming.

We are at the end of days. The fulfillment prophecies concerning the coming of the Lord are unfolding before our eyes. We are the last human kingdom in the dream of Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. We are at the end of the Time of the Gentiles, and the final seven years of prophecy concerning Israel will soon unfold.

My dear sister sent me a video about the coming four blood moons.

Peter said, quoting the Prophet Joel, “The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and notable day of The Lord.”

Prophetically, a blood moon, a full lunar eclipse, is seen as a warning to Israel, while a solar eclipse is seen as a warning to the nations. Four successive blood moons is a rare astrological event know as a tetrad. Even more rare are when a tetrad happen on Jewish Holy Days. So rare are these events that there have been only three in the last 500 years. Each of these rare events happened during pivotal years in the history of the Jewish people. The first was in the year 1492-93. The second was 1948. The third was 1967. 1492 saw the Spanish Inquisition. In 1948, the nation of Israel was reborn. In 1967, Israel re-took the city of Jerusalem, her ancient capital. Beginning next year, there will appear another tetrad with each moon appearing on a Jewish Holy Day: Passover, 4/15/14, Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles),10/8/14, Passover, 4/4/14, and Sukkot,9/28/15. In the midst of this tetrad, there will also be a full solar eclipse. Incredibly, this solar eclipse takes place on Nisan 1, the day Israel was set free from Egyptian bondage. If these moons are prophetic, we could be heading into a pivotal time concerning Israel and the nations of the Earth that could eclipse anything seen in the last 4,000 years.

And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, in the stars…Lk 21.

And the final blood moon appears on the Feast of Tabernacles, a prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah to Jerusalem!

I want to be in the church in the last days. I want to be filled with His Spirit. He is the Living Water. Out of your bellies will flow Living Water! The latter rain shall be greater than the former!
