Introduction:
Here recently there has been people in our own denomination that have told me that I am missing out on a lot of important stuff by being a King James Bible only reader.
I first think that it is sad that a holiness denomination would think that way
But tonight I intend to prove just the opposite.
I thought instead of a typical message tonight we do a little bit of a topical study
On the importance of the King James Bible
I originally started doing this research as a personal study, but as I got in the study itself I learnt there was a message there that I wanted to share with all of you
As I began I have a True story here that shows why it matters what bible you use

The pastor got up to preach & his sermon began with "Please turn in your Bibles to..." Then the pastor began his sermon. One could hear pages turning all over the building. One father watched his son, barely 9 years old, proudly open his Bible. His father had told him, "Make a habit of knowing God's Word for yourself. Never take man's word for what it says. Read it yourself."
But as the pastor began reading, something was very wrong! The words didn't match, The youngster checked to be sure he had the right verse. Yes, that's the one. But the words just didn't match! The pastor was reading from a new translation and, to those with limited reading ability, it sounded like another book! The boy glanced at his father, made a helpless gesture and closed his Bible. The father stared at his Bible but he wasn't following either. In his mind he was on the way home trying to answer a little boy's questions without destroying his respect for his pastor or the Word of God. "Which words were really God's words, after all?" he wondered.
All over the auditorium, Bibles could be heard closing. The Word, for which so many had died, would go unread by the people. Instead, they would receive it from the lips of the "holy man," who surely understood which words were really God's. An overreaction? Maybe. That is, if one accepts the notion that the professional clergy knows best about spiritual matters, and are the only ones who can be trusted to find "truth."
As more and more Bible translations are published, fewer people preach the Word with confidence.
One preacher says it one way.
Another says, "I like mine better.
But what does God say? Thus saith The Lord that is what we need
we can't just choose a Bible which says what we want it to say, and still take it seriously as the Word of God?
the King James Bible was translated from the true text, in a word by word translation style
Therefore it gives us the true and error-free Word of God.
I say that Preachers need to recognize that using many different translations in the church undermines the people's confidence in the written Word
We need one standard text.
And it would certainly help to get the right one!
Which I say has always been & will always be the king james
I say if it's not broke it don't need fixed
The King james was first printed in 1611 and for over 400 years it has stood as the absolute word of God
It has been seen and accepted by people all over the world, including the best Bible Scholars of the day, as the Word of God.
But sadly since 1900 we have had well over a hundred or more new English translations of the Bible.
Each new Bible promises that it is the best, most accurate, and easily understood.
If each new translation that comes out is the best and most accurate, then what does that say for the last “best and most accurate” that the newest one replaced?
Often imitated but never duplicated
Let me give a few reasons why I use the King James Bible only
1. I use the King james because of its proven track record.
For over 400 years the King James has been used for great revivals,
great churches have been built upon its teachings
millions upon millions of people have been won to Christ while using the King james bible
People use other Bibles today and think it is impressive that their Bible has been used for 20 years or so But think of 400 years!
Why would the Lord use it in such a wonderful way if there was something wrong with it?
2. I use the King james because it is, as much as possible, a literal, word for word translation.
I say you should want a bible that is as much as possible a word for word translation of the original.
The King James IS word for word.
The NIV AND ALL OF THESE OTHERS ARE NOT WORD FOR WORD, but they are what is called a free translation.
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Inspiration: meaning that God supernaturally directed the writing of Scripture so that the authors recorded exactly what God wanted to be written
God made no mistakes the way it's written in the King James is exactly the way it needs to be written
3. I use the King james because it can be trusted.
We are dealing with the Word of God.
The King james translation has been proven more than trustworthy.
Time tested & battlefield proven.
The NIV and OTHERS adds many words which means That you often are not even reading the actual Word of God
Just added words that have no Biblical basis whatsoever
They were simply added to make the reading easier.
It don't need to be easier it just needs to be studied harder
5. I use the King James because it is easier to memorize than the modern translations.
The flow of the language lends itself to memorizing.
Along with that, what Bible would be best to memorize when ‘scholars’ can’t agree on what the text says?
I say the King James
often imitated but never duplicated
6. I use the King James because so many of the other translation produce tremendous confusion.
You just can’t follow along.
Think about it What could be a greater ploy of Satan than to cast doubt on the very Word of God?
7. I use the King James because it holds true to the great doctrines of the Bible.
Let me give you some examples of what I mean:
Just a few examples listing them all and then making points on them would take more time than we have
I could easily do a sermon series on this point alone
1. Isaiah 7:14
King James Version (KJV)
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel .
Revised Standard Version (RSV)
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Imman'u-el.
New Revised Standard (NRS)
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.
New american bible revised edition (NABRE)
14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; the young woman, pregnant and about to bear a son, shall name him Emmanuel.
Mary was not just a young woman she was a virgin that's important
The virgin birth is a fundamental truth.
A very important part of what we believe
It's one of the things that makes the birth of Christ so very important
We can just change or leave that out.
2. 1 Timothy 3:16
King James Version (KJV)
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
New American Standard (NAS)
16 By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.
Today's New International Version (TNIV)
16 Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
Who is the “He” those other translations are talking about
They left the name of God out of the equation all together
How could they do that
They are leaving out the most important part
3. Colossians 1:14
King James Version (KJV)
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Revised Standard Version (RSV)
14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
American Standard Version (ASV)
14 in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:
They have left out the blood
Without the blood what have we got
What can wash away my sins nothing but the blood of Jesus
They can't just do away with it
It's just to important
4. Micah 5:2
King James Version (KJV)
2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting .
New Living Translation (NLT)
2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village in Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past.
New International Reader's Version (NIRV)
2 The LORD says, "Bethlehem, you might not be an important town in the nation of Judah. But out of you will come a ruler over Israel for me. His family line goes back to the early years of your nation. It goes all the way back to days of long ago." Bethlehem was also called Ephrathah.
There is a big difference between everlasting and long ago or distant past
My God is not just from a long time ago he is everlasting
With no beginning and no end
He is the first and the last
The alpha and omega
The one who said let there be light and there was light & when he decides will say go get my children and time as we know it will be no more
To say he is just from a long time ago well that don't do my God justice
5. John 6:47
King James Version (KJV)
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
New International Reader's Version (NIRV)
47 What I'm about to tell you is true. Everyone who believes has life forever.
New Century Version (NCV)
47 I tell you the truth, whoever believes has eternal life.
Believes what?
They are leaving out some important words
You must believe in Jesus Christ and the finished work of the cross of Calvary
Everyone believes something that don't mean they are going to heaven
Christ and Christ alone will get you there leave him out you left out the most important part
6. Acts 8:37
King James Version (KJV)
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
The niv, ncv, nirv, NLT, and many others leave this verse out all together
It's not even in there bibles
What or who exactly are they believing in
The last part of that verse said I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God how could they just leave that out
Why would they want to leave that out
This is not the only verse that's left out in these other translations
for sake of time I cant go over them all
The NIV alone leaves out 16 entire verses!
I won't read them all just mention a few
1. Matthew 17:21: "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."
***2. Matthew 18:11: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."
( that's the whole reason that Jesus came we can't leave that out)
3. Matthew 23:14: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation."
4. Mark 7:16: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear."
***5. Mark 9:44: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
***6. Mark 9:46: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
(They are trying to do away with Hell I tell you they can leave it out all they want it still real and everyone who don't accept christ as lord and savior is still going there for eternity "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.")
7. Mark 11:26: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."
8. Mark 15:28: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors."
9. Luke 17:36: "Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
10. John 5:4: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had."
11. Acts 8:37: "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
12. Acts 15:34: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still."
13. Acts 24:7: "But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,"
14. Acts 28:29: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves."
15. Romans 16:24: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."
16. I John 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
All these other translations change or take away the truth
the truth is what sets us free
They eliminate so much of the important stuff that they take away the salvation message
People say they give the same message just in easier to understand ways we'll i think I have proven otherwise
they do not teach the same truths?
Salvation is not hard.
Manmade religion makes salvation hard.
What must you do to be saved?
Everything you need to know is found in the King James Bible
You must
· Realize we are all sinners
Romans 3:23
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
· Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins
Romans 5:8
8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
· Accept the free gift of salvation
Romans 6:23
23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
· Believe in Jesus Christ our lord and savior and him alone to forgive our sins
Romans 10:9-13
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
the King James Bible tells you how to get to heaven
all the others don't have the same message like they claim
they don't teach the same truths?
I believe these are good reasons to use the King james bible only
I know it isn’t the easiest to read,
but what you read will not lead you astray,
you can be sure that you can trust it.
They tell me that King James readers are missing out on so much
I say that we are not the ones leaving things out
Things like the blood, the virgin birth, the name of Jesus, and the mention of God
We are not leaving out whole versus at a time
We have it all so we are not the ones missing out they are
