Summary: To show that as CHRISTian believers we have delegated authority from the LORD JESUS Himself, that's why the LORD JESUS makes sure His WORDS are fulfilled in us.

To show that as CHRISTian believers we have delegated authority from the LORD JESUS Himself, that's why the LORD JESUS makes sure His WORDS are fulfilled in us.

IV. TEXT:

Mark 11:30-33 (Amplified Bible)

11:30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer Me.

11:31 And they reasoned and argued with one another, If we say, From heaven, He will say, Why then did you not believe him?

11:32 But [on the other hand] can we say, From men? For they were afraid of the people, because everybody considered and held John actually to be a prophet.

11:33 So they replied to Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus said to them, Neither am I going to tell you what [sort of] authority I have for doing these things.

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for I have delegated authority from You here on earth, as You are so am I here on earth and I will do greater things for Your Glory and Honor because You are with the FATHER.

4:17 In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Authority from GOD or Heaven - Belief in JESUS

"11:30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer Me.

11:31 And they reasoned and argued with one another, If we say, From heaven, He will say, Why then did you not believe him?"

Mark 11:29 (Amplified Bible)

11:29 Jesus told them, I will ask you a question. Answer Me, and then I will tell you by what [sort of] authority I do these things.

The issue here is authority of JESUS. Remember the devil has only power but no authority at all, but we, as child of GOD, we have both power and authority given to us by JESUS in the form of discipleship. As men, we can't question GOD's authority for it overrides all authority, we can only obey it.

Authority or "exousia" in Greek meaning:

1. in the sense of ability

2. privelege, force, capacity

3. competency, freedom, mastery

4. magistrate, superhuman, token of control

5. delegated influence

6. jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength

Matthew 28:18-19 (Amplified Bible)

28:18 Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

28:19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Absolute power corrupts absolutely as they say in men's life, but JESUS CHRIST is not only man, He's both GOD and Man, that's why He can handle absolute and even infinite power and authority. Real authority is not questioned but it is demonstrated.

Some Authorities of JESUS while here on earth:

1. Authority to teach

Matthew 7:29 (Amplified Bible)

7:29 For He was teaching as One Who had [and was] authority, and not as [did] the scribes.

2. Authority to forgive sins

Matthew 9:6 (Amplified Bible)

9:6 But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins and remit the penalty, He then said to the paralyzed man, Get up! Pick up your sleeping pad and go to your own house.

3. Authority to heal and do miracles

Matthew 9:8 (Amplified Bible)

9:8 When the crowds saw it, they were struck with fear and awe; and they recognized God and praised and thanked Him, Who had given such power and authority to men.

4. Authority to drive away evil and demonic spirits

Matthew 10:1 (Amplified Bible)

10:1 AND JESUS summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness and infirmity.

Mark 1:27 (Amplified Bible)

1:27 And they were all so amazed and almost terrified that they kept questioning and demanding one of another, saying, What is this? What new (fresh) teaching! With authority He gives orders even to the unclean spirits and they obey Him!

7:8 For I also am a man [daily] subject to authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bond servant, Do this, and he does it.

7:9 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled at him, and He turned and said to the crowd that followed Him, I tell you, not even in [all] Israel have I found such great faith [as this].

6. Authority to give authority to become sons of GOD

John 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

1:12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—

7. Authority to be worshipped

Matthew 14:33 (Amplified Bible)

14:33 And those in the boat knelt and worshiped Him, saying, Truly You are the Son of God!

Some authorities of the believers delegated by JESUS:

1. Authority over all the power of the enemy

Luke 10:19 (Amplified Bible)

10:19 Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.

2. In the future, authority over ten cities

Luke 19:17 (Amplified Bible)

19:17 And he said to him, Well done, excellent bond servant! Because you have been faithful and trustworthy in a very little [thing], you shall have authority over ten cities.

3. Authority to become sons of GOD

John 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

1:12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—

4. Authority over properties stewarded to us

Acts 5:4 (Amplified Bible)

5:4 As long as it remained unsold, was it not still your own? And [even] after it was sold, was not [the money] at your disposal and under your control? Why then, is it that you have proposed and purposed in your heart to do this thing? 5. Authority to win souls, and disciples for GOD by use of the gospel

26:18 To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are consecrated and purified by faith in Me.

28:19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

1 Corinthians 9:18 (Amplified Bible)

9:18 What then is the [actual] reward that I get? Just this: that in my preaching the good news (the Gospel), I may offer it [absolutely] free of expense [to anybody], not taking advantage of my rights and privileges [as a preacher] of the Gospel.

13:10 So I write these things while I am absent from you, that when I come to you, I may not have to deal sharply in my use of the authority which the Lord has given me [to be employed, however] for building [you] up and not for tearing [you] down.

B. Authority from men - fear of people

"11:32 But [on the other hand] can we say, From men? For they were afraid of the people, because everybody considered and held John actually to be a prophet. "

Authorities from men only gives out fear to men and fear of men. Authorities from men tend to be questioned too and they appear lacking. That's why unbelievers only work as men pleasers, eye service and hypocrites. But as for believers, we are different from unbelievers in the sense that every work, task, duties, responsibilities, and obligations assigned to us, we treat them as assigned by the LORD JESUS to us and not men, not our pastor, not our boss or superiors.

Luke 20:19 (Amplified Bible)

20:19 The scribes and the chief priests desired and tried to find a way to arrest Him at that very hour, but they were afraid of the people; for they discerned that He had related this parable against them.

Luke 22:2 (Amplified Bible)

22:2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to do away with [Jesus], for they feared the people.

Acts 5:26 (Amplified Bible)

5:26 Then the military leader went with the attendants and brought [the prisoners], but without violence, for they dreaded the people lest they be stoned by them.

That's why as CHRISTians, we think that every task we have are given by the LORD not men.

Ephesians 6:7 (Amplified Bible)

6:7 Rendering service readily with goodwill, as to the Lord and not to men,

Colossians 3:23-24 (Amplified Bible)

3:23 Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,

3:24 Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah).

1 Corinthians 15:58 (Amplified Bible)

15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].

C. JESUS's Authority came from Heaven - JESUS is unbeatable in arguments

"11:33 So they replied to Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus said to them, Neither am I going to tell you what [sort of] authority I have for doing these things."

We are unrefutable. The LORD gives us the same tongues as His tongue.

Luke 21:15 (Amplified Bible)

21:15 For I [Myself] will give you a mouth and such utterance and wisdom that all of your foes combined will be unable to stand against or refute.

We sense wrong and cultish doctrines from the WORD.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (Amplified Bible)

10:5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

54:17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for I have delegated authority from You here on earth, as You are so am I here on earth and I will do greater things for Your Glory and Honor because You are with the FATHER.
