Genesis 5:21-24-Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah.
After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters.
So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
8 times in this chapter, the words “And he died” is attached to a person, and it doesn’t matter how long they lived a long life of 962 or short life of 777 years, they all had the same out come….And He Died!
8 times it rings out, just like a school bell!
Class is in session!
First lesson-The wages of sin is death!!!
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Gen. 2:16)
Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Gen. 3:4-5)
8 times it’s a reminder that what God says is true!
If you can’t believe that statement, then just look across the street, there is a whole cemetery full of people, who could testify, that what God said is true!
And they range from the very young to very old, from those who die from sickness, and from those who didn’t!!
God, didn’t say, that as soon as they ate of it, they would surely die!
He didn’t say when it was going to happen, He just said it was going to happen!!
Just remember this, there is a penalty for un-confessed sin, you don’t when it’s going to happen, or how it’s going to happen, but trust me it’s going to happen!
Hebrews 9:27-And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
Mankind has got a appointment, and very few have gotten away without keeping it!!
I want you to pat attention to the wording….Enoch walked with God
That means he went in the same direction as God!!
Are you going in the same direction that God is going?
Amos 3:3-"How can two walk together except they be agreed?"
That means if your going to walk with God, you are going to have to be in agreement with Him!
Agreement with His Word!!
Agreement with His commands!
Is your lifestyle reflecting that agreement?
Is your attitude reflecting that agreement?
Is your actions reflecting that agreement?
When Enoch, begin to walk with God, he continued that walk for the rest of his life here on earth and right on into eternity!
It wasn’t a run, it wasn’t a sprint, it was a walk!!
We have all know people who start out with the Lord, in a dead run, but they don’t last, they run out of steam, or obstacles get in their way and they stumble and fall, and they turn and walk away from the Lord!
Enoch walked with God and God walked with Enoch!!!
Raising children is difficult!
Being married is difficult!
Living in this world is difficult!
God was with in the hard times!
So when you're walking with the Lord, just remember that He's walking right along with you!
No matter how hard the path gets, He's walking right beside you!
Doesn't matter what troubles come your way, He's walking right beside you!
No matter what your illness is, The Great Physician is walking right beside you!
Doesn't matter what your need is, The Great provider is walking right beside you!
Doesn't matter what your sin is, Because He who died for your sins and He who shed His blood is walking right beside you!
You got a thirst that needs to be quenched, The Living Water is walking right beside you!
Are you hungry for more than what the world is offering, are you tired of living off the world scraps, Then the Bread of Life is walking right beside you!
A lot of times we don’t recognize that God is walking beside us!
Sometimes, we don’t see at church or when we are feeling healthy or when our job is going good.
But sometimes it's in those difficult days, when we realize that God is walking with us!
In those dark days, in those gloomy days, in those days when everybody else has walked out and we realize that God has not!
That He is still walking with us, guiding us, protecting us, encouraging us, helping us, teaching us, motivating us!
When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with those who will trust and obey.
