12:41 At the end of the 430 years, even that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out of Egypt.
12:42 It was a night of watching unto the Lord and to be much observed for bringing them out of Egypt; this same night of watching unto the Lord is to be observed by all the Israelites throughout their generations.
12:43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat of it;
VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. GOD could lead us to a way that was nearer
"When Pharaoh let the people go, God led them not by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was nearer;"
If we think he leads not his people the nearest way, yet we may be sure he leads them the best way, and so it will appear when we come to our journey's end. [Source: Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary]
GOD's leading is always the best not the shortest.
1. GOD will lead us to the best way not the shortest.
Psalms 25:12 (New Century Version)
25:12 Are there those who respect the Lord? He will point them to the best way.
2. Apostle Paul is teaching the best way not the short way.
1 Corinthians 12:31 (New Century Version)
12:31 But you should truly want to have the greater gifts. And now I will show you the best way of all.
3. Our final outcome has hope
Jeremiah 29:11 (Amplified Bible)
29:11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
The end justifies the means. We don't live this way. We live in the way of the LORD, justified means and justified ways and ends.
4. All things work together for our best but not all things are good.
Romans 8:28 (Amplified Bible)
8:28 We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
5. Righteousness is preparing our way and our every footsteps
Psalms 85:13 (Amplified Bible)
85:13 Righteousness shall go before Him and shall make His footsteps a way in which to walk.
6. Way of the LORD - JESUS CHRIST (John 14:6)
Proverbs 10:29 (Amplified Bible)
10:29 The way of the Lord is strength and a stronghold to the upright, but it is destruction to the workers of iniquity.
7. The way and leading of the LORD is not quick but slow.
Proverbs 28:20 (Amplified Bible)
28:20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings, but he who makes haste to be rich [at any cost] shall not go unpunished.
Proverbs 13:11 (Amplified Bible)
13:11 Wealth [not earned but] won in haste or unjustly or from the production of things for vain or detrimental use [such riches] will dwindle away, but he who gathers little by little will increase [his riches].
Proverbs 20:21 (Amplified Bible)
20:21 An inheritance hastily gotten [by greedy, unjust means] at the beginning, in the end it will not be blessed.
B. But we could change our purpose when we see war and return
"for God said, Lest the people change their purpose when they see war and return to Egypt."
GOD can't bless a murmuring or complaining person:
1. Murmurers or complainers always think of themselves, how will they eat and drink.
Exodus 16:2-3 (Amplified Bible)
16:2 And the whole congregation of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,
16:3 And said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots and ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
2. Murmurers or complainers see a problem and complains - only sees death but the LORD sees a great miracle.
Exodus 14:11-12 (Amplified Bible)
14:11 And they said to Moses, Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way and brought us out of Egypt?
14:12 Did we not tell you in Egypt, Let us alone; let us serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.
3. Murmurers or complainers see the Promised Land and still complains
Numbers 14:1-8 (Amplified Bible)
14:1 AND ALL the congregation cried out with a loud voice, and [they] wept that night.
14:2 All the Israelites grumbled and deplored their situation, accusing Moses and Aaron, to whom the whole congregation said, Would that we had died in Egypt! Or that we had died in this wilderness!
14:3 Why does the Lord bring us to this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones will be a prey. Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?
14:4 And they said one to another, Let us choose a captain and return to Egypt.
14:5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of Israelites.
14:6 And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among the scouts who had searched the land, rent their clothes,
14:7 And they said to all the company of Israelites, The land through which we passed as scouts is an exceedingly good land.
14:8 If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Whenever GOD sees a problem, GOD sees an opportunity to bless us, but all we see are problems.
Luke 14:27-32 (Amplified Bible)
14:27 Whoever does not persevere and carry his own cross and come after (follow) Me cannot be My disciple.
14:28 For which of you, wishing to build a farm building, does not first sit down and calculate the cost [to see] whether he has sufficient means to finish it?
14:29 Otherwise, when he has laid the foundation and is unable to complete [the building], all who see it will begin to mock and jeer at him,
14:30 Saying, This man began to build and was not able (worth enough) to finish.
14:31 Or what king, going out to engage in conflict with another king, will not first sit down and consider and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand [men] to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
14:32 And if he cannot [do so], when the other king is still a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks the terms of peace.
IX. CONCLUSION:
Exodus 13:21-22 (Amplified Bible)
13:21 The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.
13:22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.
1 Timothy 6:6 (Amplified Bible)
6:6 [And it is, indeed, a source of immense profit, for] godliness accompanied with contentment (that contentment which is a sense of inward sufficiency) is great and abundant gain.
Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for we enjoy the spiritual journey we have with You, we don't mind if the journey is long or short as long as You are travelling with us as a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night.
