IV. TEXT:
Micah 2:2-3 (Amplified Bible)
2:2 They covet fields and seize them, and houses and take them away; they oppress and crush a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.
2:3 Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, against this family I am planning a disaster from which you cannot remove your necks, nor will you be able to walk erect; for it will be an evil time.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS, for You are my Only Delight and Desire, You have already blessed me with everything I need even before I ask.

Plans of the LORD against squatters
VII. EXPLICATION:
A. Author: Micah, a native of Moresheth in Judah
B. Date written: Sometime between 739 and 686 B.C.
C. Purpose: To warn GOD's people of coming judgement for sin and to offer hope from GOD's mercies.
D. To whom written: North Kingdom (Israel) and South Kingdom (Judah)
E. Main Themes: Sin is exposed. GOD's justice is required. Mercy is offered to those of humble and repentant hearts.
VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. Different types of squatters
"They covet fields and seize them, and houses and take them away; they oppress and crush a man and his house, a man and his inheritance."
1. They covet and seize fields
2. They take houses
3. They oppress, crush a man and his house
4. They oppress, crush a man and his inheritance
The squatters have violated and disobeyed the tenth commandment of GOD.
Exodus 20:17 (Amplified Bible)
20:17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.
Luke 12:15 (Amplified Bible)
12:15 And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more); for a man’s life does not consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing abundance or that which is over and above his needs.
Colossians 3:5 (Amplified Bible)
3:5 So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).

22:38 This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.
22:39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.
22:40 These two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the Law and the Prophets.
Covet or "chamad" in Hebrew meaning:
1. to delight in
2. greatly beloved
3. delectable thing
4. to lust
5. to consider them pleasant and precious
All their delight is not in GOD, while GOD taught us to delight in Himself. GOD knows as human beings we have tendencies like this and we're not exempted from this 10th commandment but the secret is "delight" first in the LORD, and all these delectable things will be granted to you. But first you need to "covet" JESUS.
Psalms 37:4 (Amplified Bible)
37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
One example is King Ahab who coveted Naboth's vineyard, he ended up murdering Naboth.
1 Kings 21:15 (Amplified Bible)
21:15 Then Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite which he refused to sell you, for Naboth is not alive, but dead.
There are warnings against these type of people:
- The land cries against them, it even complained with tears because they have no right in owning these land.
Job 31:38 (Amplified Bible)
31:38 For if my land has cried out against me and its furrows have complained together with tears [that I have no right to them],
- They buy houses and lots until there's no one left for others to live.
Isaiah 5:8 (Amplified Bible)
5:8 Woe to those who join house to house [and by violently expelling the poorer occupants enclose large acreage] and join field to field until there is no place for others and you are made to dwell alone in the midst of the land!
- Their eyes and heart can't be fixed on the LORD, instead it's fixed on (1) covetousness and dishonest gain, (2) shedding innocent blood, (3) oppression and doing violence

22:17 But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness and dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression and doing violence.
- They swallow up and trample down the needy
Amos 8:4 (Amplified Bible)
8:4 Hear this, O you who would swallow up and trample down the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail and come to an end,
- They are restless and cannot stay at home. Their greed is like hell and can't be satisfied. They obtain wicked gain for his house. They set up their nest on high that he may be preserved from calamity and delivered from the power of evil.
Habakkuk 2:5-9 (Amplified Bible)
2:5 Moreover, wine and wealth are treacherous; the proud man [the Chaldean invader] is restless and cannot stay at home. His appetite is large like that of Sheol and [his greed] is like death and cannot be satisfied; he gathers to himself all nations and collects all people as if he owned them.
2:6 Shall not all these [victims of his greed] take up a taunt against him and in scoffing derision of him say, Woe to him who piles up that which is not his! [How long will he possess it?] And [woe to him] who loads himself with promissory notes for usury!
2:7 Shall [your debtors] not rise up suddenly who shall bite you, exacting usury of you, and those awake who will vex you [toss you to and fro and make you tremble violently]? Then you will be booty for them.
2:8 Because you [king of Babylon] have plundered many nations, all who are left of the people shall plunder you—because of men’s blood and for the violence done to the earth, to the city and all the people who live in each city.
2:9 Woe to him who obtains wicked gain for his house, [who thinks by so doing] to set his nest on high that he may be preserved from calamity and delivered from the power of evil!
B. The LORD's Plan of disaster against them
"Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, against this family I am planning a disaster from which you cannot remove your necks, nor will you be able to walk erect; for it will be an evil time."
GOD's Judgement against the squatters:
1. They will be killed by the sword (weapon of today:guns, knife)

22:24 And My wrath shall burn; I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall be widows and your children fatherless.
2. GOD will repay them on the same ground they've stolen
2 Kings 9:26 (Amplified Bible)
9:26 As surely as I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, says the Lord, I will repay you on this plot of ground, says the Lord. Now therefore, take and cast Joram into the plot of ground [of Naboth], as the word of the Lord said.
3. It's the same as usury, the people cry against them.
Nehemiah 5:1-5 (Amplified Bible)
5:1 NOW THERE arose a great cry of the [poor] people and of their wives [driven to borrowing] against their Jewish brethren [the few who could afford to lend].
5:2 For some said, We, our sons and daughters, are many; therefore allow us to take grain, that we may eat and live! If we are not given grain, let us take it!
5:3 Also some said, We are mortgaging our lands, vineyards, and houses to buy grain because of the scarcity.
5:4 Others said, We have borrowed money on our fields and vineyards to pay the [Persian] king’s heavy tax.
5:5 Although our flesh is the same as that of our brethren and our children are as theirs, yet we are forced to sell our children as slaves; some of our daughters have already been thus sold, and we are powerless to redeem them, for others have our lands and vineyards.
4. They are exalted for a little while, then gone and brought low. They are taken out of the way, cut off as tops of ears of grain.

5. They shall surely die and their blood be upon them.

18:12 Has wronged the poor and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored [to the debtor] his pledge, has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination (things hateful and exceedingly vile in the eyes of God),
18:13 And has charged interest or percentage of increase on what he has loaned [in supposed compassion]; shall he then live? He shall not live! He has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
6. They will be scattered and GOD will consume their filthiness.
Ezekiel 22:12-15 (Amplified Bible)
22:12 In you they have accepted bribes to shed blood; you have taken [forbidden] interest and [percentage of] increase, and you have greedily gained from your neighbors by oppression and extortion and have forgotten Me, says the Lord God.
22:13 Behold therefore, I have struck My hands together at your dishonest gain which you have made and at the blood which has been in the midst of you.
22:14 Can your heart and courage endure or can your hands be strong in the days that I shall deal with you? I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.
22:15 And I will scatter you among the nations and disperse you through the countries, and I will consume your filthiness out of you.
7. The LORD will never forget any of their rebellious deeds.

8:4 Hear this, O you who would swallow up and trample down the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail and come to an end,
8:5 Saying, When will the New Moon festival be past that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath that we may offer wheat for sale, making the ephah [measure] small and the shekel [measure] great and falsifying the scales by deceit,
8:6 That we may buy [into slavery] the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals; yes, and sell the refuse of the wheat [as if it were good grade]?
8:7 The Lord has sworn by [Himself Who is] the Glory and Pride of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their [rebellious] deeds.
8. GOD will draw near to them for judgement.
Malachi 3:5 (Amplified Bible)
3:5 Then I will draw near to you for judgement; I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against the false swearers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, and who turn aside the temporary resident from his right and fear not Me, says the Lord of hosts.
9. They will receive greater condemnation and the heavier sentence.
