Summary: In troubled times when it's so easy to fall away from God's Word, we all need help understanding that 'We ain't all that.'

THE ONE ANOTHER SERIES—RESTORE ONE ANOTHER

GALATIANS 6:1-5

I. Introduction

1. In this series, this perhaps the most intriguing of the one anothers.

2. “Restore”- means to mend something that is broken (example: Mending broken bones; Mending a fisherman’s net).

3. To bring it back to it’s original form:

a. This passage is dealing with another believer, another Christian as it begins with ‘brethren.’

b. There is something ‘torn’ in their lives and it needs to be ‘stitched.’

c. One thing you should find is something, someone restoring in the Church.

II. Why is restoration needed

1. “Someone has been caught in a trespass.”

a. Caught up in a sin that he/she can not get out.

b. Become an ‘Addict’ over something that has them trapped. Becoming an addict over something that has them hooked.

EXAMPLE:

1. When you go fishing, you put bait on a hook.

2. The fish bites the hook and tries to get free.

3. The hook runs deep into the fish’s mouth. Unknown to the fish that the hook that has him hooked has a ‘double hook.’

4. So, if he wiggles away from the first hook, he wiggles into the double hook preventing him from escaping.

c. A ‘Trespass’ is something that is against God.

d. There are people that are addicted, caught in their trespasses, hooked because they are going against God.

EXAMPLE:

1. A dog wraps himself with the leash around a pole, pulling, trying to get away.

2. The more he wraps around the pole, the shorter the chain gets; the shorter the chain gets the more he chokes himself.

3. Some folks have been trapped for years in their trespasses, trying to get away but the leash keeps tightening.

4. The more they try to get away, the more they are killing themselves.

III. The Way To Get Restored

#1- Have the right deliverer to assist you---‘Ye which are Spiritual RESTORE’.

a. A lot of people don’t get delivered because they are talking to the wrong folks.

b. You need help with someone that knows how to unwrap you.

c. In other words, you can be delivered spiritually.

EXAMPLE:

1. A Doctor is a specialist in your medical condition and he knows how to deliver you.

2. He goes beyond the symptoms and gets to the root cause for a proper diagnosis.

3. Don’t go to quack Doctors that do not understand your medical situation and how to deliver you.

4. Some of you need to stop taking bad medication from quack doctors.

#2- If you are caught in a trespass, you need to know the spiritual diagnosis and the brethren rendering a spiritual diagnosis must be spiritual---‘Ye which are Spiritual Restore’.

A. “Spiritual”- means God’s assessment of the problem and God’s solution to the problem.

B. Can’t go to the world for Spiritual solutions.

C. Whey you go to the doctor, he’s not satisfied with your diagnosis.

D. If you could have fixed it yourself, you would not need a doctor.

E. The doctor goes deeper than the symptom to find the solution to your problem. He goes looking for the root cause and he is not satisfied with your solution.

F. Spiritual people are those that are going to look at the diagnosis through God’s eyes.

G. Being Spiritual does not mean how many scriptures you can quote, how much you give, etc.

H. Being Spiritual means ‘the methods you use to diagnose it (scriptures) and the means (medication-repentance) you use to resolve it’ (and both must come from God).

Example:

1. The Jaws of Life-

a. In a car crash, sometimes the Jaws of Life are used.

b. Those Jaws are used to cut through steel for the purpose of rescuing.

c. There is a need to have the Jaws of life for a brother that is caught in a trespass, to cut away the steel of sin so he can be rescued.

#3- ‘The Spirit of Meeknees’

1. Demonstrating that you care for the person.

Example:

1. Fishing-

a. Two ways to fish: 1- Fish for fun or 2- Fish to fry

b. Fishing that’s done for fun means you gently pull the hook out of the fish’s mouth and place the fish back into it’s environment.

c. Fishing that’s done for frying means you intend to kill it and cook it, eventually consuming it up.

2. We are to gently pull the hook out so we can restore lost brethren back to the environment of the Church, not ready to snatch the hook out ready to place brethren into a fiery hell.

3. We do not need to use the Word of God trying to beat folks over the head, trying to beat each other up with the Bible.

4. Pain is going to happen but you want to use the least amount of pain as possible.

5. The Lord is in need of some ‘Spiritual’ people looking beyond the symptoms while adhering to ‘what thus saith the Lord.’

#4- When you are helping others, look out for you—‘Lest thou also be tempted.’

1. The tempter wants to hook you too.

2. Even though you are spiritual, it doesn’t exempt the tempter from getting you.

Example:

1. The U.S. New York Warship

a. This warship is made up of scrap metal from 911.

b. Scrap left overs that was blown up, placed together to become a warship fighting terror.

c. God can use scrap Christians, turn them around to be a warship in rescuing others from sin.

Galatians 6:2

1. “Burden”- Not necessarily a sin but something that is weighing you down.

2. A weight too heavy to handle alone.

Example:

1. Weight Lifter-

a. Starts out lifting weights strong—1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5

b. After a while, the weights start to get heavy. This is when you are in need of a spotter.

c. The spotter’s job is to help get the weights off you.

d. Life gets so weighty sometimes you can’t lift it on your own.

e. Spiritual folks come and help you carry the load; helps carry the weight and put it back on the rack.

f. People gets weighty, people gets weighty, life gets weighty and sometimes you get caught under the pressure of this weight and you are in need of some help.

“Fulfill the Law of Christ” is equivalent to “the Law of Love-“

1 John 4:19-21

1. We must love him enough to help him get his life back straight.

Example:

1. Braces-

a. You put braces on your teeth because something in your teeth has gotten out of whack.

b. Other Christians are the braces of our lives because our lives have gotten out of whack.

c. Braces are not convenient, always having to be tightened, food sticking everywhere.

d. As with the brethren, using God’s Word is not always convenient causing you to tighten up your living because you have messed all over yourself but they help straighten you up.

Galatians 6:3-4

1. Translation--- “You ain’t all that.”

2. When you are in your secret place, how are you living? Need Braces?

3. Are you helping to serve others?

4. There is coming a day when God will shut you down, letting you know that you ain’t all that.

Galatians 6:5

1. Share the burden but never take the load.

2. If they want your help, they must take responsibility- a man that don’t want to work, he shouldn’t eat.

Example:

1. Whoopen-

a. Back in the old days, there were two brothers (boys), the boy that did the crime and the boy that told the crime the other boy did.

b. The one that witnessed the crime went and told the dad what the other boy had done.

c. The dad began to whoop (beat) the boy that had done the crime.

d. When the dad had finished beating the boy that committed the crime, dad turned and beat the boy that told on the boy that beat the crime.

e. The boy asked the dad ‘why did you beat me, I didn’t do the crime?’

f. The dad replied ‘I beat your brother for committing the crime and I beat you because you could have helped your brother avoid the trap of committing the crime.’
