VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. By faith, Sarah received physical power to conceive a child
"Because of faith also Sarah herself received physical power to conceive a child, even when she was long past the age for it,"
Received or "lambano" in Greek meaning:
1. to get hold of
2. accept
3. when I call
4. to hold
It's not like she will just receive it, but she already has it, she just need to get hold of it or call it to remembrance and accept it.
Strength or "dunamis" in Greek meaning:
1. force
2. miraculous power
3. ability, abundance, might
4. mighty wonderful work
Conceive or "katabole" in Greek meaning:
1. deposition - the act of laying or throwing down. ex. Laying of eggs on the ground
seed or "sperma" in Greek meaning:
1. from which a plant germinates
2. the product of this semen: seed, children, offspring
Characteristics of Sarah:
1. Sarah was ninety years old, the everlasting covenant was established with Isaac
Genesis 17:17-19 (Amplified Bible)
17:17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a son?
17:18 And [he] said to God, Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!
17:19 But God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed, and you shall call his name Isaac [laughter]; and I will establish My covenant or solemn pledge with him for an everlasting covenant and with his posterity after him.
2. Sarah was past the age of childbearing, she laughed to herself
Genesis 18:11-14 (Amplified Bible)
18:11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in years; it had ceased to be with Sarah as with [young] women. [She was past the age of childbearing].
18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed to herself, saying, After I have become aged shall I have pleasure and delight, my lord (husband), being old also?
18:13 And the Lord asked Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I really bear a child when I am so old?
18:14 Is anything too hard or too wonderful for the Lord? At the appointed time, when the season [for her delivery] comes around, I will return to you and Sarah shall have borne a son.
3. Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age
Genesis 21:1-2 (Amplified Bible)
21:1 THE LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for her as He had promised.
21:2 For Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time God had told him.
4. Sarah obeyed Abraham - following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by] calling him lord (master, leader, authority)
- married women are prone to give way to hysterical fears, letting anxieties unnerve them.
1 Peter 3:5-6 (Amplified Bible)
3:5 For it was thus that the pious women of old who hoped in God were [accustomed] to beautify themselves and were submissive to their husbands [adapting themselves to them as themselves secondary and dependent upon them].
3:6 It was thus that Sarah obeyed Abraham [following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by] calling him lord (master, leader, authority). And you are now her true daughters if you do right and let nothing terrify you [not giving way to hysterical fears or letting anxieties unnerve you].
She reminded herself of GOD's promise and she bore a child. She's still in the Old Testament where faith is not yet that made strong by the blood of JESUS, and by dispensation of Grace in the New Testament but she was able to live by faith, how much more, we who are living in the dispensation of Grace, it was made more easily for us to live by faith.
We just accept GOD's promises in our lives, claim the bible promises for your situation and always remember GOD's WORD about that specific situation and GOD will do it. For example, you need healing, read and memorize bible verses about healing and constantly remind yourself that you were healed already by the stripes and wounds of the LORD. Faith accepts it now not later. - "NOW faith"
Hebrews 11:1 (Amplified Bible)
11:1 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].
Accept in yourself that you were healed, sicknesses and diseases are a thing of the past. You will not be healed tomorrow or the day after but you were healed 2,000 years ago.
B. Sarah considered GOD to be reliable, trustworthy and true to His WORDS
"because she considered [God] Who had given her the promise to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His word."
Hebrews 10:23 (Amplified Bible)
10:23 So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.
How to retain the promises of GOD without wavering:
1. Cherish it in your heart
2. Confess
3. Acknowledge it
Abraham did not waver in his belief in the promises of GOD so as a reward GOD credited his faith as righteousness.
Romans 4:20-22 (Amplified Bible)
4:20 No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God,
4:21 Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.
4:22 That is why his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God).
IX. CONCLUSION:
Constantly remind yourself that what you have prayed for is with you already, that you got it already, and you can hold it in your hands, that's how faith will work for you.
Mark 11:24 (Amplified Bible)
11:24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].
2 Peter 1:3 (Amplified Bible)
1:3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).
Romans 8:32 (Amplified Bible)
8:32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS, for I have already accepted, and reminded ourselves of everything you have given to us, and You have not withhold anything good for us.
