John 8:1-11-1-But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2-Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.
3-Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4-they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.
5-Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”
6-This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.
7-So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”
8-And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9-Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10-When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
11-She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
They were more concerned about the sin, Jesus was more concerned about the sinner!
They were more worried about the sin, Jesus was more worried about the sinner!
You need to be careful of those people who draw attention to themselves, who make sure you know how religious they are, how spiritual they are!
Some of those kind of people, you need to watch them, with one eye on them and one hand on your wallet, because soon or later that’s what they want from you!!!
Then there is the other group, that don’t necessarily want your money, but they want your attention, they want to try to get you to put them up on pedestal, because they do seem so good, and kind, and loving, they may put a form of compassion, a facade of caring but be careful of those people, because they only care about themselves, only care about their needs getting meet!!
They are like wolves in sheep clothing!!!
Pray for them, love them, minister to them, but be careful of them!!!
The Pharisees felt like they were better than everybody else, they looked down their noses at people, they thought they were better than everybody else, and they sure weren’t going to put other people in same category as themselves!
Doesn’t matter what your talent is, or how much money you got, or what house you live in or what car you drive, what your background is!
Whether you grew up on the poor side of town or born with a silver spoon in your mouth!
When you look down your nose at someone, Just remember, The same grace that can save them, is the same grace that saved you, or can save you!
I think people forget that, they look down their pious nose at other people, thinking their better than them!
You have to be careful of that, once you start down that hill, it’s a fast descent!!!
Because you’ll end up like the Pharisees, look how they ended up, cussing and mocking the very one who was dying to save their soul!!!
Just think, the One who wrote, in stone the commandments, is now writing in the sand!
What if today, Jesus wrote down one of your sins in the sand!
Everybody could see it, doesn’t matter about all the good works you have done, doesn’t matter how much money you have given, it doesn’t matter how long you been a church member, doesn’t matter what kind of person you are!
If everybody could see that one sin, just that one sin, everybody would forget about, all the good you’ve done, all the righteous acts you’ve done, and that one sin would define you!!
Scary isn’t? Scary to be revealed like that! Scary to vulnerable like that!
If that’s what He wrote in the sand, maybe He didn’t even name them, just wrote down their sin, and they knew He was talking about them!
If Jesus did that to you today, you would be at this altar, repenting!!
I guarantee you, would drop the stones that your ready to throw at other people, because of their life, because of their choices, because of their sins!!!
There are people in this world who are finger pointers!
You can rely on them, to point out every time you mess up, every time you make a mistake, every time you sin!
And they are going to make sure, you know and others know, about your mistake, your bad choices, your sins!
Now, the question is? Are you the one being pointed at? Or the one that is doing the pointing?
