Walking With God
Hebrews 11:5-6
See: Genesis 5:19-24
Here we have a man that had a past that we are not told of. We do know that in his 365 years of life he walked with God 360 years.
Vs.22 Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah
“And he begat sons and daughters”
In Enoch we see several things that we can relate to.
1. He Had A Traumatic Experience
As we survey our lives concerning the events that took place leading up to when we came to Christ by faith or the thing that caused us to become more committed in this relationship with our Lord.
For Enoch it was the birth of Methuselah whose name declares a message given to him from God.
In Methuselah God declares that judgment would come upon the known world at that time.
See: Jude 14-15 Prophesied of this coming judgment
This judgment came the same day Methuselah dies.
See: Genesis 5:27 Methuselah lived for 969 years
Vs.25 187 years old he begat Lamech, Vs.28-29 Lamech begat Noah at 182 years old
Then: Genesis 7:11 Noah was 600 years old when the blood came
This shows us that the flood happened the day Methuselah died.
2. He Had A Telling Experience
It is one thing to have a traumatic experience that changes your life, but another thing to be willing to tell others.
He before Noah warn the people of this pending judgment of the ungodly
3. He Had A Translating Experience
Hebrews 11:5 By faith he was translated that he should not see death
In Genesis chapter 5 we have what I call a God given obituary that list the deaths of these that dies a natural death, but there is one here that does not.
Vs.24 Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him
I can see them searching for Enoch for days, weeks and even years for some, but he was not to be founded.
Point: If Jesus comes soon there are going to be some people looking for us.
Enoch is the first in Bible that illustrates a future rapture of the Church!
4. He Had A Traveling Experience
“He walked with God” This he did in the days of Noah a wicked generation
This simply means he lived in fellowship with God
His walk was
a. A Walk of Faith
Mention: Romans 1:17 The just should live by faith
• Faith Knows the Promises of God
A promise not known does you and I no good!
2 Cor. 1:20 For all the promises in Him are yea…
• Faith Trusts in the Power of God
In this life we all faced the things that may befall a person without Christ and the difference between us and them we rely on the power of His Word.
See: Matt. 7:24-27
• Faith Sees the Presence of God
Mention: Psalms 119:105 thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
b. A Walk of Faithfulness
He walked with God for 300 years
Faithfulness may stumbles, but never forsakes its course!
c. A Walk of Fruitfulness
“He pleased God”
Col. 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God
Matt. 25:23 Well done good and faithful servant…
