Isa 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
Ezek 1:13-14 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
Lu 3:16-17 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire 17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable
In three separate scriptures: God is referred to, specifically as a consuming fire
Deut: 4:24
Deut: 9:3
Heb: 12:29
Our God is a consuming Fire
Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
We gather from these scriptures and many others that our God is a God of fire, and that everything associated with God has fire connected to it.
On the day of Pentecost every head got a flame.
They not only spoke with other tongues, but tongues of fire sat upon each of them.
I believe in speaking in tongues with all my heart, and I believe that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism of the HolyGhost, and when you are filled with the HolyGhost you will speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives you utterance.
But if all you have is tongues, you are no threat to the devil or his Kingdom.
(It’s like carrying a 10 lb bible under your arm but you don’t know what it says)
It’s not the word under your arm the devil fears, it’s the word in your heart that becomes the sword of the Spirit.
Cloven tongues like as fire sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the HolyGhost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The point I’m making is: Two things happened that day, 1. They got tongues and 2. They got Fire.
When the HolyGhost came, He came as a rushing mighty wind and Fire.
You need to speak in tongues, you will speak in tongues
(But you need the Fire)
In the mind of God: They came together on the day of Pentecost
1. Tongues of Fire
2. Tongues on Fire
But religion has done a pretty good job of separating them.
So now we have churches and denominations that still adhere to the belief of speaking in tongues, but they have no fire, (no Power)
If the HolyGhost Baptism is anything, it is a baptism of Fire.
If Pentecost is anything it is a baptism of Fire
If the HolyGhost in your life means anything, it means that you receive Power.
Ye shall receive Power after that the HolyGhost is come upon you
Ye shall receive Power: Strongs definition of Power = Force, ability, strength, violence, specifically miraculous power.
This is what happens when you are baptized with the HolyGhost and Fire (supernatural force and ability, strength, violence, miraculous power comes inside you).
The Fire of God is an energizing force
It is a sanctifying and purifying agent
John said: His fan is in his hand and he will thoroughly purge his floor.
His floor is where he walks (he walks in you, and he walks in me)
Your body is the temple of the HolyGhost (1Co 6:19)
When the HolyGhost comes and where the HolyGhost lives and where he rules, he will clean his house.
He will burn up everything that is of the world, the flesh, and the devil.
He will glorify Jesus in your life.
He will give you power to say no to the flesh
He will give you power to crucify the flesh
He will give you power over the devil in your own life
You will be able to put the devil under your foot
You will have power over habits, bondages, addictions
God doesn’t want us addicted to anything except his anointing
He will give you power to be a witness
He will give you power to help others
He will make you a blessing to others
You will be a channel through which the miracle life power of God will flow
Jn 7:37-38 Out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living waters.
You will become partners with Jesus in the great commission
Mk 16:16-18 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
That’s why the devil doesn’t want you to be baptized in the HolyGhost and Fire
When you are on Fire for God you are a threat to hell
A lukewarm Christian is a better advertisement for the devil than for God, because our God is a consuming fire.
Samson caught 300 foxes and tied them together in pairs.
These foxes were no threat to the philistines until he put a fire brand between their tails.
These same foxes that previously were little more than a nuisance suddenly became the Philistines worst nightmare.
What made the difference?
“THE FIRE”
Some of you are going to leave here tonight and the devil isn’t going to know what to do about you, because you are going to be too hot to handle.
Somebody is going to catch fire today
Somebody is leaving here different
Maybe you’ve never really experienced the fire, you have a concept and a theory and a philosophy but you’ve never really been touched by the fire of God, but tonight is your night to get your own personal flame.
Maybe at one time you had the fire, you had the anointing and the unction of the Spirit upon your life but you’ve cooled off, (tonight is your night for a fresh anointing of the fire of God)
The HolyGhost Fire is burning
The wind of the Spirit is blowing
Just lift your hands and tell him: I want the Fire
Tell him you want the mighty baptism of the HolyGhost and Fire
You say: I spoke with other tongues when I got baptized, or I spoke in tongues 5 years ago, or last week.
Well I’m not just talking about speaking in tongues, I’m talking about a fire in your belly.
When you have a fire in your belly (you’ll speak in tongues all the time)
The Stoplight, Walmart, the Gas station,
Paul said: I Thank God I speak with tongues more than ye all
Why is it so important?
Because it is the door way in to the manifestation of all the gifts of the Spirit
*It stirs up the anointing and the giftings that God has put inside of you
*It quickens and stirs up that supernatural dimension in your life
*It opens the atmosphere to the manifestation of the power of God
*It builds up your inner man (Jude 1:20) Building up yourselves on your most holy faith praying in the HolyGhost.
*It stirs and quickens your faith
All of the Kingdom of God is in the HolyGhost
Ro 14:17 For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink but righteousness, peace and joy in the HolyGhost.
Healing, deliverance, miracles, signs, and wonders, supernatural joy and peace (all are manifestations of the Kingdom of God) And they are all the product of the power and the anointing of the HolyGhost.
Jesus was completely dependant upon the the Holy Spirit
The Apostles were completely dependant upon the Holy Spirit
And we must be completely dependant upon the Holy Spirit
Zech 4:6 This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
All the miracles, signs and wonders and demonstrations and manifestations of the power of God from Genesis to Revelation are all the operation of the Holy Spirit.
It is impossible for us to have the demonstration and manifestation of the supernatural dimension of God without the person and presence of the Holy Spirit.
We will only have Holy Spirit operations and manifestations where we create an environment and atmosphere where the Holy Spirit is pleased to dwell.
I’m going to speak now about something many believers may not fully comprehend
I want to speak to you about what the bible calls unction
1Jn 2:20 But ye have an “unction” from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
We have come to know the word unction and the anointing as the same thing, and that is true if we properly interpret (the anointing)
Many believers have come to an understanding that the anointing refers to the indwelling presence and power of the HolyGhost.
It does refer to the Holy Spirit but not in that respect
There are 3 and actually 4 operations of the Holy Spirit as pertains to our lives as followers of Christ.
1. With us
2. In us
3. Through us
4. Upon us
The unction or the anointing of the Holy Spirit is not referring to his indwelling, but rather his coming upon us for service, for ministry, for doing the works of Jesus, for healing, deliverance, for preaching the gospel, casting out devils.
It is the Spirit upon us that causes the Spirit within us to flow out of us.
We should desire not only the spirit within us, but also the anointing upon us
Everything we do in the service of the Lord, should be done under the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
We know the principle of the Anointing upon us from the old testament.
1. Samson: The anointing, the unction of the Holy Spirit would come upon him and he would under that unction perform supernatural feats and acts of strength.
2. Elijah: The hand of the Lord = (The anointing) the unction of The Holy Spirit came upon Elijah and he out ran Ahabs chariot for 20 miles.
That principle did not disappear in the new testament
Jesus told us in Lu 4:18 -19 The Spirit of the Lord is (upon me) because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Jesus tells us that the key to the power in his ministry was that the Spirit of the Lord = (the anointing, the unction of the Holy Spirit) was upon him.
One of the keys to the power in your life and mine is not just to have the spirit in us, (That’s personal) but it is also for the anointing, the unction of the Holy Spirit to be upon us.
It is this anointing, this unction of the Holy Spirit on us, that causes these rivers of living water to flow through us.
It is this anointing upon us, this unction upon us that is thrusting power
This anointing upon us engages the Spirit within us to flow through us as mighty rivers of healing, miracles, signs, wonders and gifts of the Holy Spirit
Lu 24:49 Jesus said: Tarry ye in Jerusalem till you be endued (clothed upon) with power from on high.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power after that the HolyGhost Is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
Two very specific things happened in that upper room
1. The Spirit came upon them
2. The Spirit came into them
1. Tongues like as fire sat upon each of them
2. They we all filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
They are both the activity and the operation of the HolySpirit.
We need them both: The Spirit within and The Spirit Upon.
The Holy Spirits indwelling, the personal presence of the Lord in our lives comes as a gift.
But the anointing (unction, power) comes with a price
The price for the anointing is faithfulness, prayer, fellowship, death to self, study of Gods word, Yielding, obedience, communion.
We have the Holy Spirits indwelling, but as we spend time with the Lord, he rubs us with his unction, his anointing , that is the anointing of power.
