Text. 1Sam 11:1-11
In this portion of scripture Saul represents a radical believer, (a radical Christian)
Radical: "Extremist, far beyond the norm, over the top, even to the point of being called crazy"
If there ever was a time we needed radical Christianity it's now.
There are all kind of radical people in the world: People do all kinds of radical things, extreme things, crazy things.
We have gotten used to seeing people in the secular world doing all kinds of crazy, extreme, over the top things, but we are not used to seeing radical Christianity.
I want us to look at a man who became radical, his name was Saul, he was the anointed king of Israel.
I want you to pay special attention to that word "Anointed" He was Anointed by God
There is something about the anointing that sets you apart from every body else.
The anointing is the power of the HolyGhost
The anointing changes a person
The anointing produces boldness
The anointing produces fearlessness
The anointing makes us aggressive
The anointing confronts error
In our text all the people were crying (they were sad) but what made the others sad, just made Saul mad.
He got angry
He was angry at the enemy
He was angry at the willingness of the people to compromise = to give up their right eye to the enemy (to make a covenant or an agreement with the enemy to avoid a fight.
He was not just an angry man, he was anointed.
He was radically anointed and angry.
In this day of compromise, this day of backing up and backing down, in this day of diluting the gospel and trying to get along with everybody and everything, So many have lost the fire of God and have settled for a form of godliness that denies the power thereof.
God is raising up men and women who are going to be more than just church attendees, more than just church members, more than just singers in the choir.
He is raising up some extreme, over the top, radical believers that are going to shake up this sleepy church world.
In fact he is raising up some people like Saul with an Angry anointing.
Angry at the devil
Angry at the spirit of compromise in the church
Angry at this religious spirit that rejects the cross, and the blood of Jesus, and the conviction of sin.
Angry at the spirit behind our pulpits that calls everybody saved regardless of how they live.
There has been a spirit of passivity in our churches for a long time, we have become very comfortable and casual in our attitude toward sin.
There has been a seeker friendly mentality and attitude to make everybody comfortable and happy in the church.
(Get rid of anything that would offend the seeker)
Anything that would be offensive to the seeker must be removed
The cross, The altar, The blood, Speaking in tongues, Emotional responses to the Spirit, Messages that mention hell or condemns sin, and sinful lifestyles. ( All this must be removed, we have got to make the sinner comfortable)
But I feel a stirring in my spirit and I have an assignment from the HolyGhost to tell the church.
"Something is getting ready to change"
There's somebody sitting in the crowd, in the congregation….. Somebody that you never really noticed, somebody that you never suspected, There is an anointing that is getting ready to fall on them, and a mantle that God is getting ready to put on them and they're going to stand up under the anointing of the HolyGhost and they're going to be like an Elijah to this generation and they're not going to be seduced by this adulterous spirit of idolatry and witchcraft that has hypnotized the church, and they're going to call Gods people to repentance.
They're going to call black black and white white, they're not going to soft soap sin, or sugar coat the word of God
They're going to put a difference between the clean and the unclean, the vile and the pure, the right and the wrong, righteousness and sin.
They are not going to be concerned about fitting in, they are not going to care about being popular with men, they are going to be clothed with the zeal of God and their only concern is going to be to please God.
I heard it said recently : about homosexuals, lesbians, fornicators, Muslims, etc, that we are all on a journey and that they are just at different places in their journey and we have to give everybody time to become who they are supposed to be.
The message he was conveying is that we are all on the same journey we are just at different places along that journey
The truth is: There are two different roads
There is the Broad way that leadeth to destruction, the way that seemeth right unto a man, (that way ends in death)
There is the Narrow way that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it.
I may not be popular for saying this, but I cannot keep quiet
If you have not confessed your sins and received Jesus blood and his sacrifice for your sins, and forsaken your sins and turned your back on the world, then you are not saved.
You are lost
You are on the wrong road
If you are a sinner and you have not been redeemed by the blood of Jesus then you are on the wrong road, and it doesn't matter how far you journey down that wrong road it will never become the right road.
If you do not receive Jesus as your personal saviour and forsake your sins, you will be eternally lost.
I know that's not popular but it's the truth, and I say it because I love you.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
There is an anointing that is being stirred up right now, and when these people start standing up and declaring the unadulterated word of God, a lot of sleepy, sloppy, lazy, passive, indifferent Christians aren't even going to recognize the anointing, they are just going to accuse us of being angry.
Can I tell you something? (It's high time somebody got angry)
Let me ask you this:
Is there anyone here that gets angry when they see cancer stealing the life of a loved one?
How about when you see a child being abused?
How about when you see people struggling under a burden of debt?
How about when you see drugs destroying families and tearing lives apart?
How about when millions upon millions of babies are murdered upon the altar of convenience?
What about when homosexuals and lesbians are standing behind the pulpit preaching?
Doesn't it make you angry when a school principal fails their students unless they dress in drag and act like homosexuals and lesbians to celebrate gay rights?
Doesn't it make you angry when fornication and adultery and gambling are accepted practices in the church?
Doesn't it make anybody angry when churches are now having beer and hymn services, where they sing the beloved hymns of the church while drinking their beer?
I pray to God somebody will get angry
When anointed people get angry the devil is in trouble.
When Jesus saw them buying and selling in the temple, he got angry and made a whip and drove them out of the temple and overthrew the tables of the money changers.
(Jesus: The most anointed man that ever lived, who had the spirit without measure, got angry and cleaned the house of God)
He was anointed and he was angry: He was radical
The devil has gotten away with too much because the church has been too passive
We've been like Saul hid among the stuff, just kind of blending in, not wanting to rock the boat or be singled out as a trouble maker, just going along with the crowd.
But God called him out of hiding
No more secret agent Christians
No more undercover Christians
Look at this
1 Sam 10:27 After Saul is brought forward and anointed:
The children of belial said: how shall this man save us? And they despised him and brought him no present.
They couldn't see how God could do anything with Saul
There will be those who look at you and they will despise you, and they will criticize you and belittle you, and they won't appreciate you.
(they can't see you going anywhere or doing anything, all they can see is who you were and where you came from and what you were.
And they would be right: Except for the Anointing (The anointing changes everything)
The bible says: And the Spirit of God came upon Saul and his Anger was kindled.
This was a man who was Anointed to be Angry.
It was this Angry Anointing that turned this quiet shy, backward, young man into a Radical Believer
When the Anointing came upon Saul, it turned him into a different person: This young man who was afraid of everything and everybody, who was shy and bashful and tried to hide from his calling
(when the anointing came on him, he turned into a different man, a boldness came on him, a fearlessness, a Holy and righteous fury and indignation rose up in him.)
I believe that same kind of anointing is going to come on some of you listening to this message right now.
Some of you that have been hiding among the stuff, you've been passive and quiet, you've not wanted to draw any attention to yourself, you've been satisfied in the background, behind the scenes, operating in stealth mode.
But the Anointing is coming on you and that anointing is going to separate you and set you forth, and it's going to put a fire in you and a boldness in you and you are going to wake up the sleeping saints, and you are going to rebuke that spirit of passivity and indifference around you.
When the people around Saul heard the tidings of the messengers, they lifted up their voices and wept (they were sad)
But when Saul heard it: The Anointing of God came upon him and he got mad: And he became radical (People that had known him days before probably thought he lost his mind) he went crazy, (he took a yoke of oxen and cut them into pieces and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel saying: Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen.
And the fear of the Lord fell on all the people and they came out with one consent.
The fact is today: The church has gone a long way the wrong way. The problem is that in this modern day church, what at one time was recognized as compromise, and sin and letting down the standard and moving the ancient landmarks, (Today it's just called the new morality, and a higher consciousness and spirituality and enlightenment.
It is being applauded for breaking down the walls of separation and for accepting everyone and everything.
I am not against big churches, I believe you can have just as much God in a big church as a little church: What concerns me is that many churches are forsaking bible truth for culture relativism just to build a big church.
The tragedy is (they may build a big church full of people that miss heaven)
Nothing is going to change until somebody with the Anointing of the HolyGhost gets angry and stands up with the word of God and lifts up the standard of Holiness and rebukes sin, and condemns the spirit of compromise and calls the church back to the bible, back to the altar, back to repentance, back to righteousness, and holiness and a consecrated sanctified life.
Something happened inside of Saul that day (I believe something is happening inside of some of you right now) I believe a spirit of compromise is being broken, I believe the spirit of fear is being broken, I believe there is a holy boldness and courage rising up in you, I believe there is an anointing and a mantle that is coming upon some of you listening to this word right now.
I believe a righteous indignation is stirring in somebody right now: I feel like the spirit of Elijah is being released right now.
The Anointing of Holy Anger and righteous indignation against the spirit of worldliness and false religion and compromise.
I know I'm not talking to everybody: but I want to know (Are there any anointed people here right now who are sick and tired of what the devil is doing? Sick and tired of the devils lies, sick and tired of his perversion of truth, sick and tired of backing up, and shutting up, and holding your peace and just letting the devil run loose?
I'm looking for some Radical Christians (Anointed believers who don't care what anyone says about you, you just want to please God)
How many will let God set you on fire?
How many will let God put a Radical Anointing on you tonight?
Because one man became Radically Anointed and Angry Jabesh Gilead was saved and the Ammonites were defeated.
One man can make a difference
One woman can make a difference
One boy
One girl
One person who will become Radical for God, One person who will let God Anoint you, ( You can make a difference)
Who's going to join me tonight?
Who's going to let God anoint you with a radical anointing?
Who's mad at the devil?
Who wants God to set you on fire tonight?
I'm done preaching but i feel a strong prophetic unction on me to tell somebody (and you know who you are) because you didn't compromise, because you didn't sell out, because you didn't lower your standards ) God said to tell you, help is on the way.
Before the sun is hot tomorrow God is going to step in for you, God is getting ready to show up for you.
