Luke 22:32 (Amplified Bible)

22:32 But I have prayed especially for you [Peter], that your [own] faith may not fail; and when you yourself have turned again, strengthen and establish your brethren.

2. To feed the flock of GOD

John 21:15-17 (Amplified Bible)

21:15 When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do—with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Feed My lambs.

21:16 Again He said to him the second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Shepherd (tend) My sheep.

21:17 He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, instinctive, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]? Peter was grieved (was saddened and hurt) that He should ask him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.

1:2 Who were chosen and foreknown by God the Father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and to be sprinkled with [His] blood: May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be given you in increasing abundance [that spiritual peace to be realized in and through Christ, reedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts].

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Similarities and Differences between Abraham and Sarah

1. Abraham is the lord over Sarah, Sarah is the princess.

Sarah is "saw-raw" in Hebrew meaning "princess, feminine of captain, chief, prince, ruler" from her old name "Sarai" meaning dominative. Sarah recognized the lordship, and authority of his husband Abraham over her.

Abraham came from the Hebrew word "'abraham" meaning "father of a multitude" from Abram meaning "high father" or "exalted father" because he can't bear children and is impotent.

Genesis 17:15 (Amplified Bible)

17:15 And God said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai; but Sarah [Princess] her name shall be.

Genesis 17:5 (Amplified Bible)

17:5 Nor shall your name any longer be Abram [high, exalted father]; but your name shall be Abraham [father of a multitude], for I have made you the father of many nations.

2. GOD talked to Abraham directly regarding his Seed (CHRIST), even the change of name of Sarah was told to Abraham not to Sarah

Genesis 17:19 (King James Version)

17:19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his Seed after him.

Genesis 17:15 (Amplified Bible)

And God said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai; but Sarah [Princess] her name shall be.

3. Both of them laughed at hearing of having a son, but Sarah denied it at first, but later admitted it.

Genesis 18:15 (Amplified Bible)

18:15 Then Sarah denied it, saying, I did not laugh; for she was afraid. And He said, No, but you did laugh.

Genesis 17:17 (Amplified Bible)

17:17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a son?

Genesis 21:6 (Amplified Bible)

21:6 And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh; all who hear will laugh with me.

4. Both of them were old, well-advanced in years and past the age of child-bearing.

Genesis 17:5 (Amplified Bible)

17:5 Nor shall your name any longer be Abram [high, exalted father]; but your name shall be Abraham [father of a multitude], for I have made you the father of many nations.

Genesis 18:11 (Amplified Bible)

18:11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in years; it had ceased to be with Sarah as with [young] women. [She was past the age of childbearing].

5. Abraham lied about Sarah, and Sarah is silent about it.

Genesis 20:2 (Amplified Bible)

20:2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah [into his harem].

Genesis 20:16 (Amplified Bible)

20:16 And to Sarah he said, Behold, I have given this brother of yours a thousand pieces of silver; see, it is to compensate you [for all that has occurred] and to vindicate your honor before all who are with you; before all men you are cleared and compensated.

6. GOD told Abraham to listen to her wife Sarah regarding the slave woman

Genesis 21:12 (Amplified Bible)

21:12 God said to Abraham, Do not let it seem grievous and evil to you because of the youth and your bondwoman; in all that Sarah has said to you, do what she asks, for in Isaac shall your posterity be called.

Listen or hearken from the Hebrew word: "shama" meaning "to hear intelligently, often with implication of attention, obedience.

Genesis 21:10 (Amplified Bible)

21:10 Therefore she said to Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, for the son of this bondwoman shall not be an heir with my son Isaac.

Galatians 4:28-31 (Amplified Bible)

4:28 But we, brethren, are children [not by physical descent, as was Ishmael, but] like Isaac, born in virtue of promise.

4:29 Yet [just] as at that time the child [of ordinary birth] born according to the flesh despised and persecuted him [who was born remarkably] according to [the promise and the working of] the [Holy] Spirit, so it is now also.

4:30 But what does the Scripture say? Cast out and send away the slave woman and her son, for never shall the son of the slave woman be heir and share the inheritance with the son of the free woman.

4:31 So, brethren, we [who are born again] are not children of a slave woman [the natural], but of the free [the supernatural].

7. Abraham is called the father of faith, called also faithful and righteous Abraham, Sarah is where we all came from - free woman. Sarah also included in the hall of faith.

Romans 4:9 (Amplified Bible)

4:9 Is this blessing (happiness) then meant only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We say that faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.

Galatians 3:7 (Amplified Bible)

3:7 Know and understand that it is [really] the people [who live] by faith who are [the true] sons of Abraham.

Romans 4:16 (Amplified Bible)

4:16 Therefore, [inheriting] the promise is the outcome of faith and depends [entirely] on faith, in order that it might be given as an act of grace (unmerited favor), to make it stable and valid and guaranteed to all his descendants—not only to the devotees and adherents of the Law, but also to those who share the faith of Abraham, who is [thus] the father of us all.

Galatians 3:9 (Amplified Bible)

3:9 So then, those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favored by God [as partners in fellowship] with the believing and trusting Abraham.

Hebrews 11:11 (Amplified Bible)

11:11 Because of faith also Sarah herself received physical power to conceive a child, even when she was long past the age for it, because she considered [God] Who had given her the promise to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His word.

James 2:23 (Amplified Bible)

2:23 And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God’s will in thought and deed), and he was called God’s friend.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Thank You very much LORD JESUS, as husband and wife, like Abraham and Sarah, we both grow in faith and GOD called us righteous.

Hebrews 11:8-12 (Amplified Bible)

11:8 [Urged on] by faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go.

11:9 [Prompted] by faith he dwelt as a temporary resident in the land which was designated in the promise [of God, though he was like a stranger] in a strange country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs with him of the same promise.

11:10 For he was [waiting expectantly and confidently] looking forward to the city which has fixed and firm foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God.

11:11 Because of faith also Sarah herself received physical power to conceive a child, even when she was long past the age for it, because she considered [God] Who had given her the promise to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His word.

11:12 So from one man, though he was physically as good as dead, there have sprung descendants whose number is as the stars of heaven and as countless as the innumerable sands on the seashore.
