Verse 7-8-But if the scab should at all spread over the skin, after he has been seen by the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen by the priest again.
And if the priest sees that the scab has indeed spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is leprosy.
Leprosy can start off as a small thing like a scab, then spread to all over the body!
It is the same way with sin, it can start off little, just with a passing thought and turn into a major sin.
Two girls were talking and Susie said, to Jane “I, can’t believe your ex-boyfriend let you set him up on a blind date.”
Jane said, well when I told him that this girl is Jennifer Lopes’ double, he couldn’t resist!
Susie said, “Is she really Jennifer Lopes’ double?”
Jane answered, Yes, she is…Twice her size and twice her age!”
Sin is like that, we always get more than we bargain for!!
Just ask King David, one minute he catches a glimpse of a beautiful woman taking a bath, next thing he knows she is pregnant and King David is sending her husband to the front line hoping that he will be killed, and he was, then the baby died. (2 Samuel 11 & 12)
A lot of pain and suffering for a few moments of pleasure!
Ask Achan, He took a little silver, little gold, a garment, and hid them in the dirt, in his tent. Then Joshua and the Israelites took the silver, garment, gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and stoned the people and animals and then burned all of it.
A lot of pain and suffering for a few material things!
We all know something little can cause a major pain….Little pebble in your shoe, or sticker in your sock, a crumb of food in your bed.
For some people it only takes a little drink, a little snort, a little taste, a little pill and it becomes a lifetime addiction!
A little heavy petting on a date could turn into an unplanned pregnancy!
I heard a preacher say years ago, “Don’t wait till you get in backseat, to decide how far you will go, you better make that decision before the dating starts!”
That don’t only apply to that, it applies to a lot of things in life, you better have your mind made up, where you’ll draw the line, before you are put in those situations.
Will you lie?
Will you cheat? Will you steal?
Verse 44-45-he is a leprous man. He is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him unclean; his sore is on his head.
“Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare; and he shall cover his mustache, and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’
A persons leprosy could spread through out his or her family, and then into the community or the camp, it is the same way with sin.
Your sinful habits can be passed on to your spouse, your children, your grandchildren, to your community.
Oh, if we only would say to our family, Unclean, Unclean!
So they would not pick up our bad habits, our sinful habits!
And saying, “Don’t do as I do, do as I say do!” Is not good enough!
Because what we do, affects our family, our community, our nation.
I see my father in me, and I see me in my children!! I wanted better for them!!
But thru my actions, thru my speech, I have not taught them better!!
Anybody else feel the same way about your family?
Verse 46-He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.
It is amazing how our sins can isolate us!
People will put with or even like a social drinker, but the same crowd will turn its back on a person if they become a drunk!
People who steal, will not tolerate other thieves stealing from them.
Any person who gets addicted to something, will many times find themselves alone, either because of pushing people away or choosing the addiction over friends and family, or friends and family have distance themselves because of the addiction and all the results of the addiction (Theft, Abuse, Intimidation, Guilt).
You can commit adultery and find yourself, instead of having two women, you end up all alone. (Song…Trying to love two women is like a ball and chain.)
You can embezzle and have lots of money, but when you get caught, all you end up with is 6 by 8 ft jail cell, and you will be all alone…Are you hope you are!
Verse 52-He shall therefore burn that garment in which is the plague, whether warp or woof, in wool or in linen, or anything of leather, for it is an active leprosy; the garment shall be burned in the fire.
Their clothing had to be burned!
Isaiah 61:10-I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Isaiah 64:6-But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Rev. 7:9-After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
Rev. 3:18-I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
Rev. 16:15-“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
Psalm 9:17-The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God.
Are you going to be clothe in your own righteousness or be clothe in the righteousness that God offers?
