IV. TEXT:

Luke 5:17-26 (Amplified Bible)

5:17 One of those days, as He was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law sitting by, who had come from every village and town of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was [present] with Him to heal them.

5:18 And behold, some men were bringing on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they tried to carry him in and lay him before [Jesus].

5:19 But finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him with his stretcher through the tiles into the midst, in front of Jesus.

5:20 And when He saw [their confidence in Him, springing from] their faith, He said, Man, your sins are forgiven you!

5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason and question and argue, saying, Who is this [Man] Who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?

5:22 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts and questionings, answered them, Why do you question in your hearts?

5:23 Which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven you, or to say, Arise and walk [about]?

5:24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has the [power of] authority and right on earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralyzed man, I say to you, arise, pick up your litter (stretcher), and go to your own house!

5:25 And instantly [the man] stood up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went away to his house, recognizing and praising and thanking God.

5:26 And overwhelming astonishment and ecstasy seized them all, and they recognized and praised and thanked God; and they were filled with and controlled by reverential fear and kept saying, We have seen wonderful and strange and incredible and unthinkable things today!

V. THESIS:

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. The paralyzed man received forgiveness and healing

"5:18 And behold, some men were bringing on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they tried to carry him in and lay him before [Jesus].

5:25 And instantly [the man] stood up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went away to his house, recognizing and praising and thanking God."

It all takes faith in the finished work on the LORD JESUS. All people there that were in that house all have a need compared to the paralyzed, and it was never mentioned how many sick people were there, how many sinners were there. We are all equal before GOD's sight, we all have a need that's why we're human, we all commit sin, but the great difference of the paralyzed man is JESUS saw their faith. Faith is not something to be announced, to show off to people by raising our hands, shouting, declaring GOD's Words, those are optional activities worth seeing by people but the question is, if it was seen by GOD. Only GOD needs to see our faith for by our faith GOD is pleased and He will work miracles, forgiveness in our lives.

If you are somehow "paralyzed" by your status in life, your education or lack of education, by your abilities, don't fear or be dismayed, these are outward appearances, GOD is not interested with them, GOD is interested in seeing your faith everytime you come to Him.

Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Bible)

11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

Hebrews 11:1 (Amplified Bible)

11:1 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

A lot of people who were in that house never received forgiveness, never received healing or their needs met, but only 1 man came out forgiven, healed, praising and worshipping GOD. Imitate the faith of the paralyzed man, we don't need to show off, to please people, our pastors, the leaders who are above us, leading us, but we only need to please One - that is the LORD JESUS CHRIST, and when He is pleased, He will bring forgiveness, healing and we will in turn praised and worship GOD.

Luke 13:13 (Amplified Bible)

13:13 Then He laid [His] hands on her, and instantly she was made straight, and she recognized and thanked and praised God.

Luke 17:15-18 (Amplified Bible)

17:15 Then one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice;

17:16 And he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him [over and over]. And he was a Samaritan.

17:17 Then Jesus asked, Were not [all] ten cleansed? Where are the nine?

17:18 Was there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien?

Luke 18:43 (Amplified Bible)

18:43 And instantly he received his sight and began to follow Jesus, recognizing, praising, and honoring God; and all the people, when they saw it, praised God.

Psalms 50:23 (Amplified Bible)

50:23 He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God.

We are so busy pleasing other people, our teachers, our pastors, leaders and those people who are amazed at us because we pleased them, but we don't have any time left to please GOD, the Only One needed to be pleased, and we forgot to please Him. We are busy in taking care of how we look, how we dress, how we act, but those are not necessary to receive forgiveness, and healing, the very purpose we come to church, isn't it? Why not go straight to JESUS, please Him today with your faith in His finished work on the cross, and receive forgiveness and healing, things needed by this world.

B. The Pharisees, teachers of the Law and the crowd got amazed

"5:26 And overwhelming astonishment and ecstasy seized them all, and they recognized and praised and thanked God; and they were filled with and controlled by reverential fear and kept saying, We have seen wonderful and strange and incredible and unthinkable things today!"

Miracles are for unbelievers. During the time I was a baby Christian, many years ago, I'm always attending miracle and healing crusades left and right, and my motive is to increase my faith. I was deadly wrong. To increase my faith, I need to hear and take hold of GOD's Promises. Then I come and approach GOD's throne with faith.

1 Corinthians 14:22 (Amplified Bible)

14:22 Thus [unknown] tongues are meant for a [supernatural] sign, not for believers but for unbelievers [on the point of believing], while prophecy (inspired preaching and teaching, interpreting the divine will and purpose) is not for unbelievers [on the point of believing] but for believers.

Romans 10:17 (Amplified Bible)

10:17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

Jeremiah 33:9 (Amplified Bible)

33:9 And [Jerusalem] shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth that hear of all the good I do for it, and they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace, prosperity, security, and stability I provide for it.

Celebrate the LORD JESUS CHRIST when you come to church, and every time you can. And the LORD JESUS CHRIST will bring peace, prosperity, security, and stability to your faith that already was there.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Thank You JESUS CHRIST, for it pleased the FATHER GOD with your Presence in my Life, and I use Your Faith, to receive forgiveness and healing and my needs met from the FATHER GOD, you did it all. You are the friend that carried me while I'm paralyzed.
