Boat was now in the middle of the sea…
Mathew 14:24”…the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.”
We need to know how to deal with unexpected scenarios! "Who would expect to face a complex day? None of us! We expect smooth, cool and easy day without any bummer or tremor in our life, it’s bound to come, though! Be prepared!
Come on, we cannot be expecting to see miracles and supernatural events everyday! We got to move with faith now! Are you listening? The Bible says, ‘they all ate and were filled!’ Yeah, the crowd, including the disciples had just witnessed an amazing, mind-boggling crusade along with sumptuous bread and fish. They had hardly jumped out of the big arena of meeting with joy, cleared the remaining 12 baskets of overflow and now they had to face an unexpected storm! How did the disciples react? They were terrified!
Let me explain the situation of the disciples before you giggle and guffaw at their predicament: their boat was in the middle of the sea, tossed by waves and the wind was not in their favor as well; this situation was enough to raise panic. People reading this message chewing gum, swinging their legs in an air conditioned cabin would never understand the fear and terror of those poor guys. There was a time in my life when the rent of the church premises, school premises and the house where we stay were not paid, along with all the electricity bills, phone bills and much more!!!!!!! Phones were ringing from all quarters – not with appreciation for my latest sermon on faith - requesting for payment which was much over due. I was also receiving ‘reminders’ of payment in my inbox as well. Phone calls and emails were flowing all over me like confetti! I wished I could duck my head inside a tunnel! Some dared to ask me, ‘can you feed the kids and provide education to the kids free of cost?’ Some gave a dig, ‘why do you need so many projects on hand?’ It did jolt me. Besides these factors, the car also broke down and nothing was moving! What do you call this situation, if not ‘boat caught in the middle of the sea tossed by waves?’ On that particular day when everything seemed to be working against me and in the midst of humiliation and nothingness, I woke up very early while it was still dark and sang songs of praises for Him, with tears running down my cheek. True friend, I did that. James said: 1: 2”My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” I knew this emptiness, this time of adversity is doing good for my soul, these circumstances are molding my character and also humbling me.
Today our children are taught computers and we train them on nuances of various fields which are less important; but alas when they face sudden failures and disappointments, they are unable to cope up with it! Today without a fixed, regular salary, pension, property or solid bank balance, we are able to handle the home front, Church, Free school, Day care Home, Internet ministry and much more through faith just in HIM who called me.
When everything around fails, we begin to depend on His unfailing sufficiency, mercy and adequacy!
