In our relationship to God, we were challenged in a resolve to repent of our sins, to fear God more, to surrender our idols, to think with a godly mindset, to remember His sacrifice for us, and to love biblically.
Loving biblically is not a feeling or an erotic passion. To love biblically takes submission and sacrifice. Love is patient and kind. Love does not envy or boast. Love is not arrogant or rude. Love is not self-centered. Love is not irritable or resentful. Love does not keep a list of wrongs. Love seeks out the truth.
The biggest obstacle to biblical love is unforgiveness. It causes spiritual, mental, and physical problems. A healthy Christian loves and forgives.
Spiritual – broken fellowship with God and others.
Mental – depression and stress cause breakdowns.
Physical – ulcers, high blood pressure, heart attacks, and cancer according to the Mayo clinic.
See Matthew 18:15 – 35; Mark 11:20 – 26; Luke 17:1 – 4
Forgiveness is a release of wrongdoing.
Forgiveness is not forgetfulness.
God does not forget our sin, He remembers them no more. He keeps no record of wrongs. Hebrews 10:1-17
